Please explain to me how "things being able to suddenly get fucked up and the pilots killed" is something Pacific Rim and Evangelion uniquely have in common, as apposed to things like Getter Robo, Godannar, Mazinger Z, or virtually any 'real robot' Mecha anime ever made? I read your post. "Evangelion is basically this movie but done perfectly", which is a false statement by someone who has probably only ever watched a hand-full of mecha anime, and therefore automatically associates "giant robots fighting monsters" with Evangelion, despite them having little in common beyond that. And btw, in Evangelion, a pilot was never "brutally killed" in a similar fashion to what happened in Pacific Rim. Never. Not once. | ||

Sure they both have giant robots, sudden alien invasions and characters that have to find it within themselves to repel said invasion. But the two aren't really alike at all. I feel like people that compare this movies with EVA haven't watched either enough Godzilla movies or other giant robot series to make a more appropriate comparison. This movie wasn't trying to be EVA so of course if that is what you were looking for it to be, it will feel off. | ||

I still can't believe how they could rape Mutavore so hard and then get completely owned by Otachi.... Although I guess they were mostly out of that fight after Leatherback's EMP. | ||

And guys please stop hating on people that get reminded of Evangelion while watching this movie.For most people Evangelion was the first/only Anime that had this mecha theme.Its annoying as hell. | ||

For the Eva debaters, I would say that simply sharing the same genre and subject material doesn't make this film a live-action Evangelion. It lacks a lot of things that made Evangelion unique and has plenty of unique qualities on its own. The theme about the basic imperfections (or incompletion) of individual human beings however is surprisingly transcendent between the two works, so they certainly do have a great deal in common. It's a great theme too, I loved both. | ||

 .Loved the movie, got exactly what I expected from it. Biggest complaint was that Gipsy Danger got most (all?) of long fight sequences...would've loved to have seen Crimson Typhoon and Cherno One get more love. | ||
