Is it just me or does Charlie Day's character remind anyone else of Day9? Did not get that vibe from stills though, so it must've been his mannerisms!

We need not your movies about the movies focused on the meaning of an unused, unoccupied coffee shop in Soviet Russia and the past relationships that were created there(shot in black and white, with a vintage filter). Your need for independent actors, directors, special effects and marketing are useless to us. This movie was never targeted at you, because they could never bring it down/up to your level. It is not a movie for you to enjoy, because you forgot how to long ago. It is for people who subscribe to the late Ryan Davis's view of the world, where we love dumb shit without shame. We adore our stupid, intentionally over the top giant robot movie that does not try act deep or meaning full in any way. We don't need it to be anything more than it is, a creation from a group of talented people who loved giant robots when they were children and wanted to bring that love to the big screen. We wanted a live action Saturday morning cartoon and we got it. Lump off. Holy shit this was so beautifully written.

Instantly I can see one for New Zealand, Mexico and Ireland. I believe there is some website out there where you can make one for your own country. Probably has dozens of them.

Their official Facebook had a contest and a link where you were able to create your own jaeger. Here are some examples of fan submissions. ![]() ![]() http://o.microsites.ign.com/pacificrim/

If we're talking about dumb shit you watch for fun, Transformers films were better, yet they were absolutely vilified. They had giant robots doing cool stuff and Megan Fox, and they didn't make me want to laugh uncontrollably at how through the roof ridiculous everything is. Pacific Rim is like a high budget version of Power Rangers, with all the extra budget going into making better looking robots (yet somehow just as awkward and clumsy as the Power Rangers ones). Somehow Michael Bay came out of it as being the evil lord of all-bad-that-is-Hollywood, while Del Toro is a super cool lord of the nerds who makes awesome robot movies. I don't know who's being the hipster in all that mess, but it sure sounds like double standards.

Giants robot doing stupid shit like taking a piss on a human, racist robots, giant Decepticon with testicles, horny little Decepticon turned good, dogs fucking on the couch, Shia screaming OPTIMUS/BUMBLEBEEEEEE, robot heaven, annoying shaky cam, etc. I rather take Pacific Rim over Transformers anyday. The only good movie was the first where it was tolerable while the other two took itself too seriously at times.

I don't know who's being the hipster in all that mess, but it sure sounds like double standards. I saw the first transformers and thought it was decent. The fight scenes were pretty cool (although I thought Pacific Rim's were better, due to superior effects, cinematography, soundtrack, and so on) but Transformers made the mistake of seeming to try and be semi-serious. With Pacific Rim, you know that it gives zero fucks about story and plot, so you can enjoy it just for that. Of course, I last saw Transformers maybe five years ago, so my memory may be flawed. Still, I never got anywhere near as excited during the fights as I did during Pacific Rim. Still, I don't see how anyone thought the coastal wall was a good idea. I doubt it would be more expensive to build a few more Jaegers than to wall of the ENTIRE PACIFIC OCEAN. Plus, wouldn't the Kaiju just build up in their "little" pen until they broke through?

That was the good old "our superiors are worse threats to us than the enemy is" military trope + satire of the wacky plans the Japanese government would come up with to try to kill Godzilla and other monsters back in the 50s and 60s kaiju films. Hipster douches should really appreciate this movie, some parts of it pretty relentlessly if subtly mock the tropes of disaster / giant monster movies. I guess the problem is other parts of the movie are an unironic homage to the good cheesy feeling of being a kid watching Godzilla movies or late 70s-early 90s giant robot anime. Hipsters need their movies to be douchey and ironic 100% of the time.

I don't give two shits about the story - robots fighting giant monsters in modern day is WAY under played at the moment, and only done with shitty CGI. This looks great. I want to see a Robot punch a monster in the face. It's like the whole reason X-men 3 will live as legendary for me - It wasn't because it was actually good. It was because it had the juggernaut, and the phoenix, and no movie sucks if it has Patrick Stewart, regardless of how shitty it actually was. But yeah, i pick my nose. i think u make a good point. both of you tbh. cuz no matter how i look at it.. i feel this movie should be a total waste of time.. and with this concept of a movie it should get no better than maybe 3.5/10 ratings.. but no.. it actually havbe 7.9 on imdb .. im intrigued to watch it. #nosepicking
