I think its kinda a shame saying that since its del toro that is directing and has written the screenplay. If it were michael bay, or someone else I would agree.

The movie was made to be a spectacle.

That would have been a huge mistake. This is basically what ruined Prometheus for me, lots of vague religious symbolism that splits the audience between those who think the movie was "deep", and those who thought it was stupid.
