To be honest, that thing is probably Godzilla. I just don't enjoy kaiju movies that have no Godzilla as much. Or maybe it's because I'm getting the thought that this movie looks like it's going to be following the same old Hollywood superhero/alien invasion scifi script. The aliens/villains come, the hero/humanity is shocked / un-confident then fights back, then the bad guys show how strong they are and the good guys look like they're done for, then the good guys win. The human spirit deus ex machinas the bad guys into losing somehow. Still, Idris Elba. And all the influences from Japanese works, from the way the robots are controlled to the way the robots an kaiju look to so much more, I think this'll be a good movie to hold me over until Godzilla comes out next year. Which we can only hope will be awesome because 2 bad American Godzilla movies in a row and that's it there won't be any more which would suck. Same thing for this movie. Kaiju films could be the next wave of summer blockbusters, we could be seeing mad kaiju stomping shit for the next 3-5 years but Pacific Rim and Godzilla gotta be good and do well. | ||

Good example: One monster= not evil. Don't see it till halfway through. I'll be seriously disappointed if it ends 'War of the Worlds-esqe' with a virus, monsters eating nuclear-robots spawns death-cloud farts, or ghostbusters 2 musical/Mars Attacks. + Show Spoiler + Man, Mars Attacks. I think it looks really interesting.
