Nerds don't want the lithe, cool, pretty boy to get the hot girl.
They want the bigger, funny, friend-zoned guy to get the hot girl.
Unfortunately, life doesn't work that way. That's why Mako gets lots of hate.
But they want Mako to get the hot girl. So that Korra can get someone else.
( I'm aware Korra is prettier but Asami fills the "hot girl" profile better).
I had assumed that different cultures might have different methods of discerning the avatar. The toy choosing thing seemed very air nomad like due to the allusions to Buddhism but I felt that the fire nation might have some grander ritual as that would suit their culture.
Now you're making me think they throw the children into a pit of lava and see if Avatar State triggers.

Hope that Amon somehow has something up his sleeve to confront Korra when she actually goes into the avatar state. The avatar state has always been overpowered so would like to see someone fight it without being destroyed like Ozai who barely lasted a few minutes against Aang in it.

Yeah and Korra and Mako really dont go together. I actually hate the idea of Mako going for Korra. Korra doesn't go with Bolin either. Bolin isn't the type to date main character girls lol

I couldn't care less about relationships but I were a Mako/Korra antifan, I'd call the shipping Koko instead of Makorra.

Lol, I just decided to watch the first one of these and ended up watching the next 7. Going to stop now because its almost 7 AM and there is only 2 more to watch atm D:

I thought it was staed that Sokka was dead? I think he is. Katara pretty much said it. "Katara explained to Avatar Korra in 170 ASC that her brother Sokka, and many of her friends, had passed away" This was taken from the wiki and it references the 1st episode.
Funnily enough I readily accepted that Aang died without caring but the knowledge that Sokka is dead by the time of LoK is genuinely saddening.

Oh god not more of that 'Kataang' bollocks.

I've seen some ah, fanfiction let's say, to that effect already.
...let me just clarify that in no way was I searching for that. Or even anything of that nature.
Don't look at me like that.

Both are leafy greens. So... yeah. My analogy still stands to a certain degree.

Do you guys think that Amon's identity will be revealed in season 1? Or will we have to wait for season 2? ^_^
|
I feel we will have to wait another season. The progression is too fast to digest everything that is happening.
I can always hope for another season, or better yet another two seasons...

Is this confirmed? I thought it was only one season, but since the next episode is the finale and we're NOWHERE near where we need to be for a satisfying conclusion, I would believe that there's another one coming.

Not confirmed really. There was a tweet that said there would only be two planned seasons, with the possibility of more (from Nick's official twitter)

That would be odd, it feels like it needs atleast two season. Also I'd be mad if there weren't more : /

If they were to do more, I really hope it's not beyond one or two seasons. I really don't want to see this franchise get milked to death. Maybe one or two more seasons, and an OVA about Aang during when Yakkone was at the height of his power.

The Yakkone thing was handily wrapped up. Perhaps if they'd just left it that Yakkone escaped it would be worth an OVA though.
Anyway, really interested to see how they transition into the next season. I mean, for this season being named "Air" we haven't really learned a lot about airbending. Which ties in to the fact that I can't imagine Korra simply leaving Republic City, because I doubt Tenzin and family will just up and go. Then again to protect his pregnant wife, perhaps.
People have expressed interest in Korra travelling around, and I feel like they have indeed covered a lot of the interest in Republic City. Given the previews, I feel Korra & co will escape at the end of Amon's takeover. I do hope Korra kicks some ass on the way though. But there's a lot around the world I feel they can definitely expand on: state of fire nation, other Aang&co outcomes, Aang's other kids, a D&M with Korra's parents, perhaps a 'master' for Bolin, Mako or even Asami, etc.
Looking forward to finale...not looking forward to season break though =(!
Also: I really want to see Katara vs anyone. More than anything I think. That's what I'll wait for in the entire of season 2.

interesting, didn't think of the scene where aang's statue is covered with a mask... maybe it's just a dream again? xD
Otherwise, yeah it seems like they will have to flee. But what will happen? Will everyone flee? Maybe? If not, then I can't see it happening that people just stay there to get their bending taken away. Then again we don't know how many non-benders there are. Maybe only non-benders will flee.
I just hope the transition between season 1 and 2 (if they go travel the world and stuff) isn't uncomfortable. It'll probably be at least nostalgic though
EDIT: WHOA! I just noticed. At 0:46 in the trailer, where Amon says "I will destroy you" (quote probably doesn't match the scene, but it is set to it) you see him sorta making the motion like clenching his fist, you can see his skin isn't pale, it's pretty dark. HMM
Also I noticed in the example in the trailer where Amon takes away someone's bending... it seems clear that he applies PRESSURE to take the bending away. It looks like he presses down with his thumb really hard, which looks even harder the way he withdraws his hand after he does so. So maybe it is a sort of way where he blocks some chi point in the forehead or something. They go unconscious right? So maybe it's not a spiritual thing like Aang with energybending. Maybe he's really just pushing a pressure point to fuck up their head. Also I'm suspecting the benders can get their bending taken away, or else it might be a bit morbid for a kid's show. So I think these things could fit well together. (Especially with the creators saying that chi-blocking is shrouded in secrets, or w/e).

Hmm..the pressure point seems a bit too weird for me, if all it was force behind it, he could easily teach it to his elite guards and the last ep with him walking through blood bending (that Aang couldnt even stop without the avatar state) hints that what hes doing has to do with something spiritually (or mechanically? lol possible but i'm leaning to the spirit side) Remeber when they show him taking behind for the first time, vs that gangster the gangster was midway using lighting bending, and u basically saw it just drain out, lighting to fire then to nothing, i think its that he's taking it away, instead of blocking it with chi. Im guess assuming that if it was being blocked it would be more instantaneous (ofc this is all guess work lol) if its not coming across, have u ever seen those movies or shows where lets say someones soul is being sucked out of something, it kinda moves half way out of the body stuggles to stay back but eventually and slowly gets pulled out lol thats how i like to think Amon is doing it ^^
