Though if this were the case and Mako and Bolin were really related to the royal family some how, it seems unlikely they would have wondered the streets as nobody's though out child hood.
I hand't noticed this...but Bolin's eyes are green. Maybe not really brothers if that is the case, or half? i think the bending difference is a bigger tell of that irl siblings have different colored eyes all the time This is true, but if there was a royal family connection, then it is a bit weird...also, isn't bending somehow genetic? How did they end up as different benders if they are related? I guess if the father was one type and the mother another...possible history plot point there. It is probably not worth thinking too much about yet, but maybe something someday.
Yes, they had parents from different elements. I'm pretty sure that's been established in the show already.
As for Mako's eyes being golden, I don't see why a trait such as that would be entirely limited to the royal family. It could be a prevalent characteristic among the royal family but that doesn't mean nobody outside of that group possesses it. I don't recall any specific mention that "only people from the royal family could have golden eyes".

No, I don't recall them establishing that...but maybe they did and I just missed it. As for the eyes, I also don't recall them specifically saying this...and after a bit if digging I found this:
http://avatar.answers.wikia.com/wiki/Are_golden_eyes_inclusive_only_to_those_born_in_the_Fire_Nation,_or_only_to_Firebenders
So I guess that is a bust on that front. They do say that it is a common Fire Nation trait, but not exclusive.

If anyone missed it, there's a new clip of Amon's threatening of the pro-bending tournament on korranation.

They havn't ever actually mentioned it, but it's common knowledge that Tenzin's sister is a waterbender. So yeah, your parents can pass bending down. I wonder, though. I'm sure there are, for example, waterbenders with two parents that aren't benders. So what happens when you really start mixing things up? Eventually you'll have randoms getting maried and they'll have a random chance of having children of any bending ability.
Quadrouplets: one of each. That'd be cool.
Anyways, I just rewatched all the episodes since someone wanted to watch them, and honestly that last episode wasn't that bad at all. I've also been rewatching the origional series, and season 1 is faaaaaaarrr more cheesy than anything we've seen so far.

You know though...as far as I know they never mentioned a bender being born of two non-benders. They have shown some parents of benders who they never said could bend, but never said they couldn't either. It seems to be a pretty genetic thing...
If they could have other benders born, not from genetics, then you would think that there would be more airbenders around, not just the ones passed down from Aang, the last airbender, but they did specifically say that Tenzin was the only airbending master...

Yeah, so that would mean that bending can be like a dominate gene. If the non-bending gene is mixed in there, then two benders can have a non-bender, but we are still not sure if two non-benders can produce a bender. If that be so, then the rules would be different...
Sorry, I am just trying to figure out what we actually know about the specifics of the bending "gene" or the rules or what have you.
Oh, and yeah, I heard that too...there was some talk and speculation that the non-bender could be or could be related to Amon on some level.
|
Yeah, you're probably right. It's at the very least partially genetic. It really wouldn't make sense otherwise.
Well I guess I hope Tenzin's kids, and all their kids, keep up with the customs of the Air Nomads then. Otherwise Airbending's gunna die out relatively quickly. With their 100% bender rate they might actually repopulate....
And yes, earlier in this thread they were theorizing that Bumi (the nonbender cihld of Aang) is Amon.

Isn't genetic, otherwise the avatar cycle a. wouldn't be as exact, "oh, you're dead here's a new one!" or b. it would be possible, however slight, to have multiple avatars.
|
I just have this feeling Amon is secretly a bender himself.

The avatar cycle is defined by it's bending.

Yeah, but not all bending is encompassed within the Avatar cycle (i.e. sand bending, metal, bending, blood bending). The avatar cycle seems more like a spiritual thing that exists in and around bending, but bending seems to exist separate of that.

Those 'bending's to me just seem like advanced parts of normal bending, Blood bending is advanced water bending, sand and metal bending can be seen as advanced earth bending, lightning is an advanced fire bending technique ect.

They are, but I got the feeling, as with the sand and swamp benders, that they didn't really know the basic form of water and earth bending...

Maaaybe for sand bending they don't know the basic form, but swamp bending is just water bending... in swampy water. And blood and metal bending they definitely need to know the basic forms since they're such advanced techniques. Probably lightning as well.

If things pan out the way the previews are supposed to be, the final probender match will be interrupted and we won't see the Fire Ferrets epicly own the Wolfbats

Yeah, but maybe the WolfBats will get their comeuppance in another way. maybe Amon will fuck them up in the process and take away their bending. LoL.
|
We pretty much already know that'll happen, lol. I dont even watch previews and I've figured that much out.
As for the swamp benders, I'm pretty sure that during one of the 'big battles' we actually do see them 'regular bending' so theres that. The sand benders not being able to 'properly' earth bend is very possible, but I imagine they'd be able to pick it up pretty quickly...
Anyways, Gahlo's not really saying anything useful and arguing it seems pointless. :D
How long does it usually take for it to go up on nick.com? I only started watching this show like 4 days ago.

The new episodes are up on Monday afternoons I think...(at least for me on the Pacific Coast US.)
