I still felt it was weird and very silly, but I know they have to kind of rush these things, especially as they are trying to make each season a different villain (which I dislike, I wish season 3 and 4 would deal with these guys or something like that). While that is true, I still think they could have done more to appropriately play the conflict out without sacrificing screen time. Also I may be wrong, but I have a feeling Zaheer and Co. may also be the villains for season 4, especially since + Show Spoiler + the season 3 finale is titled "Venom of the Red Lotus" (Red Lotus being the official title of Zaheer and Co.)

I mean, its like they totally forgot the last two seasons, and how Korra escalated pretty much every conflict she's ever faced.

Nah because she's the avatar it is supposed to be her thing, she didn't do the best job at it, but it shows she's matured in that regard. Although to be honest the "escelations" she did in season 2 were going to happen regardless. Aang could have been in that situation and he wouldn't have been able to prevent the civil war, unulaqs plan to get both portals open, etc. I don't see anyway possible she could have prevented a civil war in that situation and wouldn't count that against her.

Also in TLA the turtle said people bend energy before bending the elements so...was bending energy first, then lion turtles giving bending, then when they stopped, people learned bending from the elements? hoping for some more backstory on orgins of bending :D edit: also my annoyance with kai and jinorah is growing each ep :/ they're getting super annoying with the stupid stuff

People may have had the power to bend, but they didn't know how to use it properly. The original benders are still the sky bison/badger moles/dragons and the moon. Those are the "original" benders. That does not mean they gave the power though and never has it been said they did. They are just the masters so to speak.

They are just the masters so to speak. only the turtles have been seen to give the bending powers, when i said " that people got bending from the orginal benders " i rather meant that they got the bending by learning from the orginal benders which has been mentioned a bunch of times. But still if we assume the wan story line to be the earliest point in the avatar universe that we know of, then the lionturtles possess bending (or at least the ability to give bending) are dragons, badger moles, bison (ignoring moon cause its not a creature of some sorts...unless u count the spirit fish) before the turtles timeline, or co-existing with the turtles OR only come into the world after the spirit world and real world is separated by wan.
