Anyway, I assume they'll go into that since there's no explanation yet why these people unlocked their airbending in the first place. | ||

They dont bend fire, they shoot explosions, WITH THEIR MINDS. Can only be beaten by boomerangs. And then this season weve already seen earthbender bending earth so fucking hard it turns into lava, how awesome is that. And dont forget that waterbending also has the unique ability to heal and also block bending (permanently unless recovered by the avatar?), something only Amon was able to do so far. Compared to all these, air bending really feels lackluster, but it fits the lore, with air nomads being extinct for quite a while and generally rather peaceful and don't need advanced fighting techniques. Still, i wish Aang went beyond the boring glider/airball and blow some wind, but now they have a chance to add something. | ||

Guru Pathik couldn't even airbend!from my year of reading Avatar fanfic (heh heh), one very interesting possible "special air technique" is "soundbending": if you can manipulate air, you can generate/suppress sound waves in the air! | ||
