It and a handful of others (including this) were actually inspired by the official (quality notwithstandng) toy that came out at the time. And before you point it out, the other pets of the set were just random bogus, so no, it's hardly foreshadowing. + Show Spoiler +
If i'm not mistaken, didn't the rainbow dash toy come with a turtle? Maybe that's why they made it. Anyway, I really enjoyed the song, and Fluttershy showing all the animals to Rainbow Dash was hilarious!
while i liked it, the episode probably would not crack my top 5. The story felt too predictable and some of the clever story telling was missing IMO. There were some very awesome parts to this episode though, the song, although not melodic or catchy, was very good. Good on ingrim for being able to step away from the super "glittery" and "Disney" like tunes. The rest of the episode was just dashie being good old dashie which although its good i would have rather seen some dashie+scootaloo freindshipping rather then just dashie yelling at pets. Sisterhooves special is still my favorite episode for season 2.
I bet a lot of people were dissapointed at the no Scootaloo in this episode, I honestly didn't expect to see her after the preview clip came out. Overall awesome episode, gonna have to review it to quote all my favorite parts
