Cersei anyway, but for much of the time that issue is in play she more or less is the Lannisters.
I think both the books and the show cited the same 5 year supply figure for food stores with the books mentioning that many areas of the north are(were) a bit better prepared. Burning of crops is less of a concern for the total supply figure than burning of the granaries which hold many harvests worth. That said I wouldn't bet on them being undamaged and if the wisdom that winters are usually at least a large fraction of as long as their preceding summer and/or that this is the second long night holds true then things are surely lined up to be unpleasant.
I do not think it will matter. I'm betting the others make it as far south as the Trident reasonably soon and things in general get far worse far more quickly than concerns about food stores through the winter. Dany had a dragon dream about burning enemies she mistook for the usurper's armies but the reader had the information to clearly see as others and their wights at the ruby ford, remember?
They can always import food from Essos, where a catastrophic disruption to the world economy brought on by a 'hiccup' in the slave trade and resulting wars surely have not hurt...right....right?
At least the summer islanders have that fertility goddess, they are going to need her when they and the Asshai are left to repopulate the world after this.

It might've been Tyrion as well. I think he's got one of the first chapters after the siege of King's Landing.
The others are stopped by magic in the wall, but there's probably some way around that. From the knowledge that we have though, I think it's impossible for them to invade.

Mance didn't actually find the horn of winter, the thing Melisandre burned was just his mock up.
I would not want to be the insurer of the wall around now, just saying.
Besides, given the demands and direction/nature of the story betting on it's continued structural integrity would be like being half way through book one and thinking Robert was likely to live a long and healthy reign. It is the thing that has to die for the next stage of the intrigue/threat to take off. What, Drogon is going to perch up on top of the wall and play cyvasse with Ghost while the others stand at the bottom unable to cross? Maybe fart in their general direction and taunt them extra times-eh when they get too bored? "It is sure nice we have this story breaker powered defense mechanism preventing the outside threat that was brewing through the whole story from mattering...so what do you think of these new dragonsteel ploughshares we forged?"

For effect Martin tends to concentrate on the raping part of "raping and pillaging" but to be sure there's plenty of pillaging going on as well. The Riverlands is basically facing starvation before the winter even hits.
Also, I don't know how lack of preperation for the winter is Robert's fault. The Seven Kingdoms aren't a socialist country, people (in this context, petty lords) are basically expected to take care of their own issues.

yes , the supply situation gotta look desperate. The chief stewart at the wall said they could feet the black brothers for 3 years of winter , but not with Stannis men around.

Looking at how Robert spent all the crown's money, its also fairly reasonable to assume that he didn't ration the food supply very well. I doubt he got in the way of it being collected, he probably just wasted it all on feast and tourneys.

Crownsland is what I've seen on multiple maps, but I don't remember it from any of the books. I guess we'll just have to wait for the map book to know for sure.

Funny part is that it's actually a pretty big area, but it's hardly ever mentioned.

I'm nearing the end of A Clash of Kings, in my reread of books 1-4 and soon-to-read of book 5. I'm moving through them pretty fast, I can't wait till I'm all caught up in the story so I can finally read, and discuss in, this thread and not having anything spoiled. Right now I'm just scrolling to the bottom of the page and posting, without reading anything else. Feels so lonely T_T
Anyways, I'm liking the reread almost better than my original reads because I'm aware of a lot more details, and able to see how events pan out into the future (based off my fuzzy memory of the books 3 and 4 in my first read through). My memory is at the prefect state where I remember the big events that happen, but not how the plot progresses to there, or what small events transpire along the way. So while I can anticipate the big outcomes, and observe what leads to them, I am also surprised by many things that happen that I had forgotten.
Last night, I was lying in bed thinking about what I had just read. I had stopped for the night after reading an Arya chapter, the one where she escaped Harrenhall. During the chapter she spent a lot of time arguing and teasing this boy called Elmar Frey. He was betrothed to some princess, which I had imagined to be an exaggeration, or hyperbole. He was always bragging to Arya about the fact that he would be married to a princess, while at the same time being condescending to her for being a servant girl. I didn't think much of it at the time, but when it flitted across my mind while I lay in bed, BOOM! it hit me. Arya was the girl he was betrothed to, I had forgotten all about it. And here they were fighting and arguing with eachother. LULZ

Its these little things I missed the first time, that makes me glad I'm rereading the books
