Definitely the best anime I've watched thus far ^^ Everything is so well done from characters, the environment, the dialogue, the strategy, and the universe.
It's not cheesy at all. I watched some of the 1999 version, but other than the music and maybe one or two voice actors, the new one seems better paced overall and superior animation. Don't mind the kiddish style drawing because I feel that is the reflection of Gon/Killua's youthful innocence in a twisted world out for their blood. Villains are complex and lovable...thoroughly enjoyed the Phantom Troupe Arc. Hisoka is also my favorite villain ever in any series/tv show/movie.
Also, I am fond that they "rush" certain details. No point in dragging something out if it can be explained quick (most animes are guilty of extending things with like 10 flashbacks per episode).
I think what I love the most about it thus far is that the author isn't afraid to kill off characters whenever. Makes it unpredictable and actually afraid for certain characters when in a pinch.

I'm enjoying re-watching HxH and the new season so far has been great. I even re-read the manga for the 2nd time. However, my only disappointing in the anime vers of the ant arcso far was the voicing of the Queen Chimera ant. Anyone else feel like there needed to be a japanese Kerrigan voice used? XD

i just rewatched it for the new episodes. Not sure if I regret keep going on, the voice acting is worse etc. But still a great show

why didn't the girl's bees (I forgot her name lol) attack the chimera ant when it attacked her?

Keep in mind it's been resumed a lot of times only to go back to hiatus after x chapters. It's more a question of how long until the next break. Though the last run was a decent amount of time (or maybe I only think that because all those other "returns" have lowered my hopes and expectations that much).
|
I don't care man, the least we can get is + Show Spoiler +a glimpse of the outside world. So it wouldn't really bother me too much if he were to go on hiatus after 5 weeks. He would either end the series weirdly or finish the next arc.

Not even excited to be honest.
When they made the revelation they there was some huge outside world, never explored, etc... I just lost hope for this manga. I will cherish the arcs until the end of greed island for being some of the best stories in manga in my opinion, and the ant arc was decent as well. The crap with Killua's family and Gon's father afterwards was not very good though in my opinion; very anti-climactic.
I'm going to read it, but it will be with low expectations seeing as how the author decides to just copy an idea that a ton of mangas have already done (and that I don't think really fits well in the HxH world). I guess it's fair since a lot of other series copied aspects on HxH. Still, the main charm of this manga really was lost when Gon met his father and it was pretty much the opposite of a satisfying conclusion for me. I know the author wanted to continue the story beyond just a boy chasing his father but I'm not a fan of that decision. I felt HxH should've ended with them meeting, Gon a young adult or older.

Oh boy, here we go again!

I have a question is this the same as the old HxH or is there new story? (I'm assuming it's same as FMA and FMA:B where the latest followed the manga more)

The new anime is basically the same as the original, so no, it is not like FMA and Brotherhood. Unlike FMA, the HxH anime did not make up its own material for an anime original ending. The new anime repeats the material, changing a few small things, and extends into the chimera ant arc which was not covered originally (because it didn't exist at the time).

I see, thanks for the answer. I've watched the older HxH so now there's those arcs in this + more. I'll just start watching it I guess since I watched the old series like 10 years ago.
