Discussing the show and past episodes is fine. Do not put things that have happened in the TV series in spoilers. However, don't spoil things from the books that may happen in future episodes. Put book spoilers in spoiler tags with a CLEAR WARNING that it is from the book. |

There was obvious flaws. Very obvious flaws. While the third season started out better the 2nd half has been very lackluster. Reportedly, Glen Mazzara clashed with a lot of the staff, especially with Robert Kirkman. The new executive producer, Scott Gimple, barely has a track record. He did write most of the best episodes for season 2, so he has that going for them. Scott Gimple's ideas on where the show should go is probably much more in line; that's the only good reason I can think of for replacing Glen Mazzara with Scott Gimple (from my perspective, of course). What's a Morrir? :D I didn't even (and don't plan on) watch last weeks episode. Based on what I've read here all that I missed was Tyrese joining with the governor and ... uhhh
that last part was leaked last week, it's this week's episode...

Wow, a good monologue. Haven't heard a good one on this show for quite a while.

first acceptable episode all season. amazingly enough, when you:
- get away from the dreary tedium of the woodbury drama and how that's being handled - use plenty of callbacks from the first and best episode, including an entire character and subplot - take the time to have a coherent theme and character moments (katana lady can talk and is in fact a person! carl is doing something for himself! rick now has context and sympathy for his own coping issues!)
you get something that's pretty unobjectionable. I was really hoping that they wouldn't do that thing where they extend subplots for no reason (leaving morgan behind), but for once I was on board because of how crazy he really is and because baby steps, TWD, baby steps.

this was a good ep, no andrea/woodbury bullshit where nothing happens for the entire episode.

This episode was fantastic. In so many ways.
+ Show Spoiler + Morgan acted as a good reminder of how Rick hasn't lost everything yet. Michonne showed that he needs to let back some of his trust in people. And the guy chasing them showed just how much of their sympathy is already gone.
Duane's death was horrible too... Was it the same in the comic? I can't remember. I know he died there, but don't remember if it was directly described. I remember the little Christmas panel though T_T

I really liked this episode solely because of how much I love the actor who plays Morgan. Anyone remember him from Jericho?

+ Show Spoiler +If I remember correctly, Duane dies in the comics too. However, Morgan keeps him around, and also decides to take up Rick on his offer to come with him

My one minor problem with this episode from just watching it, that horrible editing when Carl and Michonne are first at the door of the KCC, and it cuts from the knob part and then they are already halfway up the hill. Felt like I missed something. Didn't seem like a smooth transition.
Good story episode though. I feel like they have to have him comeback and join Rick and the gang. His boobytraps would be perfect at the jail against the Governor.

Wow. When they leave him there, knowing he is just going to slip more and more into madness, very powerful. Especially seeing how his situation is basically a glimpse into Rick's future (at least that's how Rick sees it).
Then the backpack scene at the end, gives us a perfect view of both the horrific brutality and hopelessness, and their changing perceptions of it. For me this was one of the best episodes in the series at communicating exactly the world they've created.

Wow, the guy that wrote this episode will be the one to replace Glen Mazzara as executive producer. That makes me so happy.

I looooooved this episode. It feels like they revisited an old character in such a great way. And that backpack guy.... damn that was good television.

Yup yup yup this episode was very good. A reminder of this show's potential.

You just see him chained up in the house when they find Morgan in Rick's hometown

I'm conflicted on the backpack guy.
On the one hand it showed exactly what you said. On the other, I have a REALLY hard time believing a backpacker like him survived for this long.
Good episode though.

But I mean you could place any number of back stories on it to make it plausible. Maybe he was with other survivors and everyone else got killed so now he's just desperate etc.
Overall great episode though. I really enjoyed watching it and I'm glad they came across Morgan. I believed his desperation and his insanity. I have a feeling Morgan will be back, maybe become the hero of the day when the governor returns to the prison. We'll see though.
