Man I had to walk away after the 7 year freeze in time ordeal. If they had come back older I would have been sold...otherwise meh. Something else, Beelzebub for now.
New chapter has about as more fan service in it than anything I've ever seen I think. I was looking forward to this chapter because I had taken a break from Fairy Tail and reading up it was looking like it was going to start getting good for the first time in a long while (IMO)... but then the author is like "break time, here's some T and A!"
Fairy Tail so classy. If I wanted fan service I'd just google for it, people have internet I bet I could get naked pictures of every single Fairy Tail member in fucking seconds, I don't need it in the manga. I wrote a long ass post about why I hated Fairy Tail, why did I waste my time I could just show people this piece of shit chapter and say "This is why I hate Fairy Tail, this shit takes up a slot from something that is actually good".

Naruto's entire persona relies on his bromance with Sasuke. He has no real inner conflict with whether it's right leaving Sasuke alive, he's single minded on this and he's a simpleton with everything else. It's not really questioned why Naruto's so intent upon saving this one person even though he's endangering the lives of everyone in his village. His relationship with his dead parents and Jiraya were his other humanizing elements, but again there's no complexity. It would have been more interesting to see how he would react if his parents were actually disappointed in him and how he would have dealt with it, or to see some long lasting effect of seeing his mentor of years die on an away mission and whether it would change his view of death. Nope, nothing complex, just good feelings.
Look at luffy, he's notorious for being a total retard. He had a single chapter of mourning and he goes right back to training. Maybe it can come later, but will Luffy harbor a hatred for the Marines for killing his brother? Doesn't appear so. Has demeanor changed or matured? Nope. The death brought him no lasting effects.
But that's the point of Shonen mangas, they're there for instant gratification, there is no exploration of complex issues. Character do good thing because it's good to do, characters do bad things so they'll be defeated by good characters usually sums up the entire experience.
Try reading mangas like like Berserk or Gantz or Homonculus. Those are mangas for adults.
Remember what had happened in those few chapters with Luffy mourning? Not only did Jimbe bring him back from practically wanting to kill himself, he had realized he could still find happiness among his friends. Of course after those few chapters and two years, he wouldn't be all mopey and sad. For Naruto, let's put it this way. When Sasuke almost died against Haku, Naruto went crazy with rage. When Jiraya died, Naruto did not go crazy because of how he had changed with Jiraya's teachings, becoming more accepting and understanding. Both characters have grown slightly, but not in dramatic ways which people could easily see, especially in One Piece's case. Haven't read any of those mangas yet, but planning on reading Gantz soon.

teh author realised that if he didnt do something drastic his characters would ahve to go through training
The expressions at the end alone were what made this chapter.
That's one thing I absolutely love about FT. Always unpredictable, always fun, always lighthearted. The whiner and hater on this thread can go stick to whatever mangas he wants to read. FT is always a joy and lighthearted tale that is definitely one of my favorites, because it doesn't take itself too seriously, and it knows it.
This chapter wasn't so bad. I just don't like the fact that now they will have pull something out of their ass most probably to win the tournament unless they have something drastic in mind. But we will see when that happens. For now, this chapter was noice. The expressions were funny.

The Gantz response to any issue is:
1) Get angry. 2) Cry.
Absolutely phenomenal manga, but reading through it in one shot changes the how the frequency of the events feels to a reader. I'm sure I'd have come to a different conclusion had I read it incrementally.
