At ESL and PGL majors there were interviews with Yapzor and Ace where they talked about the team not really practicing lately and there being some issues in the team. Similarly for Dreamleague they just took a break, though obviously they still played great (but the event didn't have many of the best teams and Liquid wasn't at full strength). Interesting to see how they develop as TI approaches. In some of the past TIs it hasn't necessarily been the case that Puppey's team starts grinding when TI is close

Chinese teams always peak during TI regardless of how they performed or how the western teams performed before TI. Maybe they won't win but they'll have a bunch of teams on the top 8 again like it was nothing, On April 03 2018 20:42 Kipsate wrote: VG and LGD all on them honestly who the fuck is going to stop this juggernaut called Virtus Plow tho. I think all teams in the upperbracket can potentially beat VP (except liquid or eg they seem too familiar with both of them). Just potential though(the closest being VG cause they're the only one who took a series against this iteration) but we'll probably just gonna see Virtus Plow most likely

Just potential though(the closest being VG cause they're the only one who took a series against this iteration) but we'll probably just gonna see Virtus Plow most likely Part of China's general performance at TI is I think all of the TI teams end up playing each other almost endlessly in the weeks leading up to the tournament, so they end up creating a hyper-focused meta to start Scrim period that happens at TI. The best of the Chinese teams end up surviving into the bracket stage, as a result, then all of the Chinese teams help each other throughout the tournament. Though that doesn't change things like TI6, where it was Wings vs The World. (Only 2 Chinese teams in the Top 8, in a year China won.) Being mindful that if Faith`bian hadn't morphed into the best player in the world during the Bracket, they wouldn't have probably placed above about 6th. As for the rest of DAC, the main thing about those Bo1s is the Meta was clearly not settling into anything, especially as the mass tie-breakers showed. VP is still the team to beat, and the top teams can beat them, it'll just depend on how everyone plays that day.

VP beating secret at TI5 only to drop out in the next round comes to mind

Sure, they had a hot streak going into the tournament, but TI5 was pure Puppey meme-drafting.
