If anyone honestly though Alliance would drop out in the group stage they were just clueless about Dota. Yeah Alliance were not doing so hot prior to TI4 but none of the recent results gave any indication they would have been THAT bad. Overall TI4 has been the most unpredictable TI and its not even close. Anyone claiming otherwise is just straight retarded. i can't say i was sure about it, but i had a very strong feeling that it might happen after ESL one where VG banned furion and wisp against them and they just sucked. that's when i told myself that if other teams take notice and do that at ti they might be in a pretty big mess since their entire recent resurgence was on the back of bulldog's heroes. so yes, after esl one it was a matter of will other teams do the same thing at ti and does alliance have a plan b if this happens? turns out they didn't.

Akke himself said if you look at the results prior to TI4, he's not surprised they didn't make it into the top 8

The 1-1 for Cloud9 was the first Dota 2 match I watched. Pretty decent entertainment I would say, even without a lot of background knowledge. One question though: Which teams are considered the best ones at the moment? Cloud9 were some kind of underdogs, I suppose?

EEzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz game EE being kicked from team in the great shuffle incoming There's no way C9 stay together. EE said he's gonna disappear from dota after TI for a while, Aui has always seemed like he only played support temporarily, and sing basically said anyone not in top 3 are going to disband. W/e, they have enough money to take their time and find a good team after the post-TI break. Anyways, let's go DK and EG. You're going to have to source realllllyyyyy fucking hard on envy saying that because i've watched every interview he's ever done and etc and haven't heard anything like that ye, same for me, i never heard him say he's gonna disappear. he said he'll take like a 2 week break to go to japan with lumi, but that's it. and they have every reason to stay together after this TI. 6th place is pretty good, if anyone has to disband/break up it's gonna be navi, ig, fnatic, not c9. I also just don't see them reforming in another team. Maybe bone7, but AUI/EE are really good friends and Sing's found his niche with this team. I think they genuinely like each other
I agree with this. There is some chance that pieliedie might be removed or leave, and a lesser chance that bone7 might, but I feel the core of sing envy aui fit well with each other and are genuinely close at this point.

Naw everything besides LGD is kind of where they should be right now.

VG have outperformed expectations but C9 were still underdogs vs them.

DDC looks like a Chinese Prince.

LGD is the last super underdog. Everyone else was mostly expected to do this well. (Cept VG who outperformed expectations too)

Am I a terrible person because I don't give 2 shits about a single Chinese team? Im behind my home NA teams 100%, and even like a lot of the euro teams, but I feel absolutely nothing for Chinese teams. I decided to go put together new furniture instead of watching this series. =(

Well if we looked at results prior to TI4 no one would be surprised if Na'Vi didn't make it top 12. Winning TI grants you a bonus in expected placement.

Are you one of those who whine about cheese in SC2 related discussions? Newbee did a level 1 Rosh against Titan, by your logic they did it because they knew they couldn't win against Titan otherwise.
Complaining about non-standard play is one the most stupid and annoying things in SC2 discussions. I wish people would leave it behind before coming here and won't poison this place as well.

I didn't know that Yao has been at every TI, what team was he on at TI1?
