We are making some improvements to matchmaking to put players with similar play styles together. For example, players who repeatedly abandon games before they begin, or intentionally throw the match. We want to make sure these sorts of players can more easily find each other, to increase everybody's enjoyment of the game.
Sorry, I should clarify that I have no data to confirm that BMMMR is used to achieve what they mentioned there. They may have other systems in place separate from BMMMR.
If a spell is written as doing 100 magical damage, and it hits someone with no items and the default 25% magic resistance, will it do 75 damage on the combat log?
cant u show a screenshot of the setup with the combat log? in my mind there's always the possibility that u have omitted something from your description
Yeah I mean obviously from your description it should do 75, but describing it is kind of pointless because if you knew the relevant piece of information you wouldn't be asking the question.
My guess is that's it's a physical spell, but it could be any number of things. Post a screenshot and a log.
this is what I was referring to, the suggested explanation is that the AoE hits long before storm actually travels 1200 units so the damage is expected to be lower. I'm not at home so I haven't calculated it out correctly but it may be correct, I wanted to know about magical damage and resistance to make sure there wasn't some weird calculation involving magic resistance beyond a simple "subtract 25% of the damage".
Lion yeah, ES isnt really good support to pick first since ES (Earthshaker i guess, could be Earth Spirit?) really needs another support to stay on lane and help the safelaner, u dont really offer that much to lane with shaker.
Some others i can think of are Disruptor, WD and Bane, all pretty good at lane in 2v1 setup and not horrible in 2v2 setup.

Following up on this (kind of related)
When would be a good time for VS to build Aghs? Considering that as pos 5 VS I'm usually totally broke and barely finishing vital items. So it seems very luxurious...
Except when against heroes who insta-kill illusions its probably never bad. Though it really excels in defending and breaking base situations. When defending base you swap enemies into T4, when breaking base its a semi-batrider to force a fight. In chaotic fights happening out on the map when two teams run into each other its much harder to get value from it. Fights are likely over before second swap, and many times you wont get a proper swap off at all. And the illusion is much more likely to just be cleaned up rather than getting a 2nd round of spells off.
