the other thing with rocket/laser builds is that you can actually get a kill on the other team's midlaner if you have a helpful support that will gank mid for you. it does a pretty good amount of damage early on against a squishy hero, so sometimes all you need is a stun. getting first blood plus free farm for the time that he is in the well will put you well on your way to BoTs.
with march builds, you rely on your supports a little more to stack camps for you, something that many supports refuse to do at lower levels, especially if you're on a team with a solo support or pentacore.. which is all too common lol
oh and if you're playing against SF mid (which you likely will since he's pretty popular) laser blind at early levels is BEYOND annoying for someone who already can't last hit with low souls/dmg..don't forget to blind heroes as they are going to last hit and you can't get the deny to set them on tilt :D

I don't have problems with camp stacking, I just do it myself from mid and then someone else farms it before I get the chance. All according to plan.

Yesterday I played a game where we were top lane, Slark/Rasta against Phoenix/Axe. We got destroyed.
I was the rasta and tried to help the slark, but died 2-3 times. I was wondering if I should have let slark alone leech xp instead of trying to help him. (And we had a furion jungle, he tried to help us a bit but was quite useless).

Can't say 100% without seeing the game, but from what it sounds like, yes. That dual lane is a really strong lane, and as a rhasta, you offer very little in terms of defensive options. Having a dual lane up top though means that they have less rotation options on your mid, and their safe lane is going to be weaker. You might have tried to go gank their safe lane or mid instead of staying top.

Considering leaving the lane is definitely right. The problem might be that their safelane might already be secure and if you have a jungler who wont help there might not be much you can do. I guess that leaves mid where you can look if you can have an impact. But thats not always possible. Sound like a lose/lose situation whatever you do almost. And even would Prophet help you its uncertain whether you'd be able to get a kill against Axe/Phoenix in a 3v2 situation. Sometimes best bet might be to try and hang in and hope mid or offlane can help when they hit 6 or something.
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why you dont jungle unless you know your safelane is secure or you can help them out. In prophets eyes he was probably minding his own business while his safelane fed and lost him the game. But that will happen all the time when you put your team in a 4v5 situation first 10+ min.

With the max March build is there any merit to a Soul Ring before BoTs to farm your jungle creeps in between waves or am I just delaying my BoTs? Because I find that once I have them I can farm Soul Ring really fast anyway. And a lot of the time when I play carefully I don't even end up using my tangos since I'm able to nab the runes every 2 minutes. Do I need them?
If I'm doing everything right and helping out with lanes as appropriate, when's a reasonable time to have my boots finished? I've heard of people getting it done as fast as 7 but that sounds kind of ridiculous, especially because my last hitting in lane is pretty good. So I think I must be missing some jungle creeps or something...
On whether to get soul ring before BoT: I think it's up to you. I watched replays of the top ranked tinkers on dotabuff (I recommend you do this because I really learned a lot by watching their PoVs - my tinker win rate has really increased) and some of them get soul ring first and others get BoT. I prefer to get soul ring first and keep pushing at the mid tower (assuming march build). If you go laser rockets then I think you have to get BoT as quickly as possible.
For the second question, the 7 minute timing for BoT is if you bottle rushed (no null talisman) and went laser/rockets to get a kill or two in that time. Bottle rush + good last hitting + successful gank = 7 minute BoT. I may have done it once, but I'm not that good myself - just a bit obsessed with this hero...
I always do the march build and I usually have bottle, soul ring and BoT by 12mins if nothing went wrong, sooner if I got a kill or the mid tower down. 12 mins feels like a long time to not take much part in the game (people really flame you for not ganking!), so sometimes I am tempted to go laser/rockets, but I hit a farming wall without the march. With max march you can always catch up if things go badly.

does anyone know what settings get saved to steam cloud? playing in a lan next month and wondering if stuff in my autoexec.cfg will get synchronised. stuff like minimap click delay, scroll speed, healthbar dividers etc...i know hotkeys do get saved

Player Perspective + click on player icon once out of draft. One of the nicer aspects of DTV - being able to watch a pro's perspective during a match (I use this quite often).

What role does centaur usually play? I usually see him in a farming position, but the people I play with never have the kind of impact that other offlaners have.
Also, what are some pathways after tranqs/blink? I've seen some wacky shit like SnY, which did not work at all. My typical one is blade mail, then heart.

bring a flashdrive with your autoexec because none of that stuff is saved as far as i can tell or have had experience with when formatting my computer or playing on another.

OK so I bought Euls as QoP against Silencer and during a botched gank (2v1 turned into 2v4) I tried to Euls myself to buy time for my blink CD but when I came down I was silenced. I could look at the replay (and I will if the answer isn't obvious) but what happened? Global lands during Euls?

According to the dota2 wiki Global Silence affects Invulnerable units, so if the global silence is cast when you're in the air and not before you euls, you should be silenced when you come down.

The other distinction to note that's relevant to that interaction is that Cyclone purges you as you go into the air, not as you land. If you were silenced before you cycloned yourself, it would be removed by it.

Right, that's why I was surprised I was silenced when I landed. I knew Global goes through BKB + is cleared by it, but I didn't know it went through Euls as well.
