That ctrl + shift + 1 trick is gold! So I can always have 1 for brew when unsplit, and 1 for earth spirit when split, without re-binding?

AFAIK that works for all heroes. I don't play many micro heroes anymore so go into a lobby and double check!

yeah in a patch a while back they made it so that your binds for each hero persist from game to game even if you play a different hero the following game.
e: this only applies for your account btw..so if you have a smurf, you'll have to rebind ofc

I think if you really want to you can copy the control_groups file to your other accounts. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\{YOURID}\570\remote\scripts\control_groups.txt

Ok guys. Why the hell we can't find a proper tutorial to play custom dota games ? There is some on the interweb, but they are soooo complicated, and LONG! I try twice and i never get it. The only think i have now is nother version of dota (dota2tools) running when i launch dota... This makes me "waiting network dota2" for ages till I can play ...

Just use http://getdotastats.com/ Lobby Explorer, it's pretty straightforward.

(yes i've watched rtz naga before but only on pro-matches not POV's while he doesn't play naga anymore i think he was the best naga in the west at one point for sure .. and that's after the illusion damage nerf)

Hey guys,
Trying to improve my Tinker play. I'm ~2.2k MMR at the moment. Getting my BoTs at around 10 mins with a max March build assuming enemy team isn't feeding me kills (I know I posted about this before but was using lasers/rockets and hunting for kills then). I open Null Talisman / tango then rush bottle, then BoTs.
With the max March build is there any merit to a Soul Ring before BoTs to farm your jungle creeps in between waves or am I just delaying my BoTs? Because I find that once I have them I can farm Soul Ring really fast anyway. And a lot of the time when I play carefully I don't even end up using my tangos since I'm able to nab the runes every 2 minutes. Do I need them?
If I'm doing everything right and helping out with lanes as appropriate, when's a reasonable time to have my boots finished? I've heard of people getting it done as fast as 7 but that sounds kind of ridiculous, especially because my last hitting in lane is pretty good. So I think I must be missing some jungle creeps or something...
EDIT - is there an efficient way to farm the whole jungle? I try to do it efficiently by hitting 2 hard camps together and the 3 easier ones at the same time.
Also, how do I avoid pissing off my whole team? Seems like as soon as I get my boots of travel I basically start sucking up all the farm on the entire map. Should we be picking fights at this point? There's only so many creeps to kill...

one thing you can do to avoid pissing off your team is not going max march. that build is a tad outdated.
if you can get your bots quickly, max rockets and laser is far more valuable because you can come online a bit sooner and gank lanes.
if your supports aren't stacking your hard/medium camps for you, picking up a soul ring isn't great unless you're having a bad game mid. but again..if you're playing the max rockets/laser build, you won't have march leveled anyway.
but this is how I see most tinkers play these days..march isn't as good as it used to be because it doesn't affect ancients anymore.
to farm jungle, which is easiest on radiant..pull the hard camp towards the river stairs and march so that it hits the medium and the small camp..dire isn't as efficient but you can hit the hard and small camps closest to top tower OR the hard and medium camps closest to the t2 together if you pull the hard camp.

Blahhh...
Well, which is it? Rockets/lasers is fun and more helpful to your team for ganking, but it's coinflippy and if you don't get kills, you're that noob Tinker who still doesn't have his BoTs at 13-15 mins... March is a bit more reliable.. I usually end up getting my BoTs at the same time every game but I can't do much in the way of ganking until a little bit later. So helping teammates early is basically going to their lane and spamming march until the other guys back off.
EDIT - I've also tried the 2 levels into everything build...and it's.... bad as expected.

You sort of have to judge based on the game whether you can get the kills necessary to get the snowball rolling as Laser+Rocket. It's not something where we can somehow tell you when it's appropriate, you kind of just have to play and feel out the other 9 players in a game.
You get 2-0-0 by 3 and hold skill points; either insta-skill rockets when a kill opportunity appears or just dump skill points into March by 5/7 if you don't get any kill opportunities.
On May 12 2015 23:08 DinoMight wrote: So helping teammates early is basically going to their lane and spamming march until the other guys back off. Usually this is just going to waste your time. You can't really proactively look for opportunities as March Tinker with just BoTs--you need items and more levels. So pretty much all you can do is just farm. If you're winning, your map pressure will force the enemy to react to your movement naturally, and if you're losing, you pretty much just have to respond to hard commitments with March counterpushing and Rocket spam. Trying to react to non-committal aggression is just going to waste more of your time than the enemy's.
|
Oh, I never thought of holding skill points... that's pretty clever. I'll try that out.
And yeah I agree running to a tower just to March is a waste of my time really.. it's hardly ever productive but it's just to make 100% sure my team isn't giving up easy kills. Probably should just tell them to back off and keep farming instead.
