In game 2 liquid had a ~26k gold advantage, took a really bad roshan fight and lost the aegis immediately + the game in the following push, that was brutal. They played the game so well before that, clawing back into it after an early disadvantage and a huge echo by fy.
Game 3 was on razors edge, they could have lost that against a fat PA and RP...but MC saved them.
Incredible games!

Ez 12 min rax. This got to be a record. For the last year of dota. Unbelievable!

this is looking great already. lets hope we can have a similair game 2. i cant take another close 3 game series for now XD

That was some incredible drafting and play from them.
Now Secret is going to be a bit tougher I feel.

Yes. I think secret is still the better team right now, but who knows what will happen. The boys seem really confident now. Getting 2nd place is already good enough for me. At least they've shown to the world how powerful they can be when they're back to their form.

Unfortunately for me, it's not a tournament with Liquid if I don't sleep through games. At least they were pretty convincing 2-0's that I missed out on...
|
What a nice boost of confidence, hope they can keep it up!

Hmm weird how our boys changed the draft entirely for Secret - even in this final series - the team who reveals the wins condition in the first two picks gets countered and owned - even though Liquid had chance in game 3 - especially if they've won the Roshan fight - the game was pretty pretty hard. Hope we get a game 5 and then - whatever happens!

There's no way Liquid had a chance to win this. They blew their chances the minute the lost in the upper bracket which meant they had to play way more games. They had to start AND end a 4 series day while Secret was preparing the entire time.

While it is true that Secret just beat us down relentlessly this was such a great event for Liquid. You really could see them steadily improve as they made it further in the brackets and you could even see glimpses of their TI7-winning form in some games.
All in all we played really well and I'm now much more emboldened for our chances at TI9

How did Liquid win TI? I actually felt like Liquid was getting better with every series they played this tournament. Beside the not ideal drafting in games 2 to 4 by giving MidOne always a favourable matchup, Secret just played better.

TI didn't have 4 series a day and they didn't expect one team to start and finish that day either.

I think nobody thought that we would get second place, before this event started, myself included. i am not dissapointed at all, secret is just way too good right now, and at least it was not a 3-0. i am just happy that we are a top tier team again, and it comes to a very good time as well. exited for epicenter, that should be great;)

The TI schedule is almost identical to MDL's, including the days where Liquid had to play multiple series

Liquid did what they had to do and more and we had one of the greatest days of Dota featuring Liquid winning in the end yesterday.

Mh, Liquid played Empire in the first series and VP in the last series one day at TI7, so this looks actually calculated to me.
What they probably did not expect yesterday is that every series was going the full distance including pretty long games...when was this over? At 0100hrs LT?

It was a 3 series day, not 4, and it was not the day before the grand finals.

Let's not make excuses. Secret outdrafted and outplayed Liquid on all but the first game. They're a really scary team right now. Upper bracket, lower bracket, none of that matters.
But I'm still very happy with Liquid's performance in this tournament. We've waited a very long time this season to be shown the kind of form they displayed over the past few days, and we got some amazing dota out of it. I think they're more than capable of challenging for the title at the next major again.

The VOD for yesterday was 16 hours long. Liquid was the first ones to play that day and they were the last.
I don't think it's an excuse to recognize that no team would be in great shape the next day after a day like that. Not to mention that Liquid had to play 10 hours later. I think a lot of people will be judging Liquid too harshly for the grand finals when we're not taking into account that there probably is no team that will be in their best shape after a minimum 16 hour day with 10 hours to sleep and prepare before their next game.

I think games 3 and 4 were pretty even draftwise, and we still got rekt hard. what i do think though is that liquid have a very good shot at beating secret at the next major, if they continue to improve like that.
