By the laws of math we will win, Newbee is looking the strongest at Manila, NB was in our group at SL and we came first ergo Liquid number 1 Dotas GG

Well there has been a discussion about Starladder being weak tournament a couple of pages back. As we can see both OG and EG got crushed by Newbie (TBH they almost got beaten by NP, it was a close series). And Newbie got crushed by Liquid and TNC in starladder. So this proves once again that the new patch changes everything. OG don't looks so strong anymore, EG are shaky IG has very bad days and this means that Liquid are currently top contender for the invite.Hell i haven't seen them look shaky since they stopped picking naga every game. I'd love to see us wining Epicenter too ( this will also revive hunter_x) but top 4 there should be enough. This means winning the group is enough. Lets wait and see, fingers crossed.

EG, OG, iG and VP are basically guaranteed invites for being top 4 at Kiev. The only question is if EU gets another invite slot, and if Liquid has earned it over the other EU contenders (which they probably have).

Just because EG and iG were top 4 I dont think they will be automatically slotted for an invite. VP has not looked good at all this patch, out of EG iG and OG, iG and OG are not looking that good right now but with OG's major win they are basically a lock. IG and Newbee are still the strongest China contenders right now so both of them will probably get invites (depending on Manila and EpiCenter) For EU right now its OG with a basically guaranteed invite and then really you have to say TL is the next strongest EU team especially if they place higher than VP at epiCenter I don't see them not being the other EU invite (assuming its like last year with 2 EU invites) I mean if TL wins dream league and then places top 4 at epiCenter how can you make the argument that VP is better deserving of the invite (unless VP places higher at epiCenter)

EG is also probably pretty much a lock. Top4 at the major and they already secured top3 at Manila. OG will naturally get invited as the winner of both majors even if they don't win a game anymore at Manila and Epicenter. iG should also be a lock given that they won DAC, got top4 at Kiev and they haven't done that badly since. The other invites depend quite a bit on how many slots there will be. If they invite 8 teams again then Liquid's chances are very good. They'll have to do pretty poorly at Epicenter to lose their spot I think. But it also depends on which other teams do well in these future events. I don't think Newbee was in any way a lock but they've been making a run at Manila so they are in the running. Secret was in a good position to get several good results after qualifying to everything but they again placed poorly on LAN. There's a bunch of teams that have a chance if they do well at the LANs they play in such as TBirds, NP, TNC, CG, etc. But it's hard to see a scenario where there are 4 additional teams that in the end have better results than Liquid. TNC is probably the likeliest out of those given that they were 2nd at SL and they still play at a Chinese LAN with decent enough competition at the same time as the Summit. The other candidates basically have to win one of these LANs to get in.

SO it would be like this: 6 invites + 8 regional qualifiers + 2 wildcards = 16 teams You would probably leave some good teams behind, but competition is fierce atm. *If epicenter winner isn't in listed in the invites i wrote then liquid probably loses their invite spot **If newbee wins manilla Just an adendo: If liquid wins the water themed international we will have a good meme on our hands. I'd also far prefer wildcards over somewhat arbitrarily making a decision to force 8 invites as there were at Kiev. Those last invited teams often only have 1 good result or marginally better results than some other teams. Far better imo to just put the spots for wildcards so that teams from different regions can play their way in. Yeah, but they do happen to invite 4 they probably would give +1 spot for NA and EU

Valve has separated the region. VP vs TL really isn't even in consideration anymore.

I'm not saying they need to win to get the invite, but I think they'll get it if they place higher than, or not too far behind, Secret.

on the other hand I don't think it's fair on the other teams at all to have Liquid in the qualifier and someone weaker get direct invite So yeah okay Naz, you can confirm to Valve you'll take the direct invite you know for fairness

I mean newbee got 2nd at Manila and faceless got fourth. Newbee was 2-0ed by TNC and faceless looked like a tier two team against liquid (not even making it to 30 minutes in both games) at SL Manila was definitely a disappointment when it came to seeing the strongest teams of the patch playing it out. Definitely strong teams there but the lack of TNC and Liquid could be felt. I'm sure we'd be saying the something similar about Starladder if Manila came first, but a lot of the strong teams of the patch just seem like they're missing from a lot of these events.
