Makes sense - they're the defending ESL-brand Dota 2 series champions from a brand perspective. Looking forward to seeing them play.

CyborgMatt also said they will be playing in 1 LAN tournament in September. I assume it's the thing in Slovenia.

A bit surprising that they even decided to invite Secret after all the roster shuffles. Putting everyone who changed their rosters a bunch to the qualifiers seemed to be a logical choice to me. But I'm sure Secret isn't too unhappy about it, lol.

Word of mouth is kuro, zai, s4 and arteezy will also receive invites as defending champions. Source: trust me, I'm 4k mmr.

they've announced who's in the quals(although not the schedule yet) http://wiki.teamliquid.net/dota2/ESL_One/New_York/2015/Qualifiers/Europe

Grats on making it through the open qualifiers, by the way!

Yeah notice how I said "defending ESL-brand Dota 2 series champions from a brand perspective" instead of "defending champions"

So hypothetically, if Zai s4 Kuro and rtz are together in a new team with a +1, and puppey is still in secret but with another +4, which team should get invited? ;D

whoever esl wants, just as it is right now everyone fails to realize they just invited secret and secret is the defending champion but its not why they invited them they invited them cuz they felt like it and i mean they literally dont have to justify shit

I don't see the problem with the invite to secret even if they changed the 5 players the Team won the last ESL. Not sure why people make it about the players.

Secret's in the exact same position iG was in last year. Won Frankfurt, bombed out at TI, had a major team shuffle.

Difference is that Secret shuffled even more players and did worse at TI, but still got the invite to New York.

Thing is, it's not that bad or uncommon to invite a team based on player names alone IF they've each had recent success with other teams. When Secret was formed, they were invited to some tournaments right away, before they played anything. It would've been a waste of time to have TI champs battle tier 2 teams in qualifiers, though they did that as well for other tournaments.

If it's not TI, I think it's fine for individual player success to count towards an invite to a tournament.

So zai won't be Secret sub:

In retrospective, Secret decision to bring Artour and zai was 50/50, they won some premier tournaments but failed and crashed in their big objective, and now Artour and zai come back where they came from.

Now the big question will be:

Who will be Secret sub for this season, Cyborgmatt?

Weird with zais praise of envy I assumed he might rejoin secret sooner than later

I don't agree with Zai's decision to become a sub and go back to school instead of traning and playing as a regular on a team.
He should seize the day now when dota is popular.
Who knows how big dota is when he is finished with school and he can always go back to school later.
I don't really think he understands how much more fun playing dota is than a regular job: Especially if he has the chance to make much more money at dota.

The problem is the can't. He specifically said that he had to finish school this year or have to start over from the beginning in the future. It makes a lot more sense to spend 1 year finishing school, then being free to do whatever he wants.

No he doesnt. If he has X number of subjects left, drops out, he can go to Komvux later, take those missing subjects and graduate. Does not need anything else. You need 2200 points or whatever it was, how or when u puzzle them together doesn't matter. Subjects are worth 100 - 200 pts.
