too bad secret could not achieve 11-0 but ended with 10-1

they could have done a perfect tournament like alliance if that was the case(9-0 for alliance during G-League)

Glad to see the boys doing well. I've only seen the grand finals, they looked pretty damn solid overall.

this is out on control tbh, its beyond stupid, there is like secret, then there is noone, and noone below that and there there is a few teams like VG EG Empire C9

At this point i'm still unsure wether secret will lose a game at the international, they are just too far ahead on skill

How long has Secret existed? How long has Secret had this particular roster? One month ago they had never taken 1st at a LAN and were coming off of an ignominious two series elimination from Starladder. It is just slightly under two months until TI5. We should all know by now that two months is plenty of time for fortunes to change.

s4 captain happened after that SL. That changes everything.

That doesn't refute the point. It's a part of it. Changes happen. Changes can come and make the team better, and changes can come and make the team worse. They can happen at any time.

Secret certainly is going to be one of the top favorites for TI. Currently they are the #1 favorite imo, but of course there's ESL still before TI and their "untouchable" status can be either strengthened or weakened there.

It seems to me that the patch happened, and the way Secret liked to play ever since DAC suits very well for the current patch. Also a lot of the current top heroes are stuff they played really well even before, or heroes that in general suit their style of play (such as Tusk for Zai). Combined with s4's solid drafting, they got somewhat of a headstart for the current patch and then they got their confidence up after they started winning.

But that said there's still quite a while until TI. Other teams will surely try to learn from what Secret is doing, and they also have time to find heroes/styles that work for their own teams. TI is also a long tournament, and teams can adapt during it. One has to keep in mind that all it takes for Secret to drop to the lower bracket at TI is one team beating them in a bo3. The same thing then for them to drop out of the tournament. Despite them doing very well at the moment, it's still hard to say with confidence that Secret will be so far above everyone at TI that they really can't lose a bo3.

They're saying s4 is both their drafter and in game leader from what i've seen lately, yet Puppey is on the captain's/drafter's slot. Just find it curious.

I'm not sure that there is such a thing as a 'captain's slot', it was just sort of an unspoken norm amongst teams to use those slots for the captain. I personally think they haven't changed slots due to being used to the colours, which can make a difference on minimap in game.

S4 is the drafter and in game leader since starladder. If you watch his stream you can see how he is actually really good at it

It used to be that blue/pink always were the drafter, but some time ago (I want to say within the past year) they changed it so someone can choose to be drafter themselves.

A lot of teams still have captain in that spot out of habit, and a lot of people still think that blue/pink is always captain, since it wasn't exactly a huge change that everyone'd notice.

I think that Secret always puts the same people into the same slots (I know rtz mentioned in an interview a while back that he likes to always be orange/black which matches what I've seen, and from watching Puppey is always blue/pink, but I haven't paid attention to the rest of the team)

from the arteezy interview

"We actually haven't since from starladder. We didn't practice at all for redbull, didn't practice for the summit, we didn't practice for this either(MDL). I think when we tested We tried this bootcamping thing at Turkey. We bootcamped for like 6 days together for starladder and then we lost. Like we actually didn't win a single game i think. So we were like ok maybe we should just play pubs and then we meet up and talk about it. So that's what we are gonna do but i think for TI we are gonna stay together for a couple of weeks/."

Fucking western overlords key to success is no practice at all . Also confirmed Secret will slump at TI5 cause bootcamping

I forgot which caster said this I think it was Merlini. He said one of Secret's greatest strengths is Puppey is able to tell exactly how far they are behind or ahead despite how bad the kill score is. Like a lot of games showed this because they are behind 10-15 kills yet they know in terms of experience and farm, they are ahead.

Even with the game against Empire, i thought Empire was playing crazy, making 100% right calls all the time. and yet only barely winning,

When secret play i always try to say to myself, okay i know everything, i got map hack, but how do you stop this Secret lineup. and mostly i come out empty since it just seems like its impossible to stop them atm. each player have like 5 core heroes they play. and play them to an unstopable level.

so you cant ban them out. and you cant outpick them. so you have to out play them which is almost an impossible task atm.

When i see secret fighting, level of commitment in a fight, it is crazy, against empire i thought like 5 times during a fight, "overextended" but yet they come out all alive perfect force staffs, glimmer capes and what not. on the right players at the right time.

this is not just 1 game its like 30 games over a month where they play on this level. and it seems effortless.

Just impossible to beat.

The worst thing is that even if you pick a soilid lineup secret will be able to pick uncommon picks like broodmother or naga ect that pretty much noone els play and then play them to almost perfection.
Even picking techis and making it work great.

players have to wear what they're used to wearing in order to perform

he prob wears something similar when practicing at home

also, if they bootcamp for TI i bet they will not follow the normal structure of a bootcamp (i.e. constant scrims). They will (hopefully) do their own thing while just being in the same location, since "doing their own thing" seems to be their formula for success

Don't know if all that is true
Well I think, one key in this patch is winning the lanes! And this is quite "easily" trained by just gaming their positions - and that basically for themself. Because help from roaming supports and know they will be there if someone is ganking is nice. But playing without this belief. Just "know", what to do in crucial situations and reacting correctly ... that will also help, if you have backup; it is even stronger then!
For example RTZ it seems plays A LOT! And I think he has incredible mechanics. So he will win most of his lanes, hands down.
The others are not streaming too much. I only see S4 once in a while. And he seems always "captaining" the game. Giving calls, how to move, where to go. Even if they are "strangers", he trains this skill.

I don't know, how they SL-bootcamped. Maybe they tried too much focusing on teamwork and "lost" their individual skills.

the calling thing that puppey does is actually normal .. everybody tells his team which ults/skills are used from the enemy team when they see one

usually the supports are doing that

It could be noted Puppey and Kuroky both are probably better at that than your average supports tho. There's a reason Kuroky's Rubick is so damn good. And why Na'Vi collapsed in on itself like a dying star after Puppey left.

Anyway, yeah... Secret looking fairly unbeatable since 6.84. I feel fairly confident S4 will captain himself and his team to victory once again.

Capain s4 seems to work great. He basically takes Puppey's genius insight and filters his crazy ideas.
Kuro stays aside and points out possible mistakes and opportunities. Don't know how you can beat this tactical staff in drafting.

Anyway, team's spokesman should be Puppey. He somewhat enjoyed it and put some effort in making funny bold answers. It's too stressful for s4.

Some day RTZ will have a girlfriend again and she will make him stop wearing basketball shorts like he's 16 and it's the 1990s.
