Also in that g2 last push against Secret, I'm not sure if c9 saw Arteezy mid, but he was walking around the stairs in front of Secret's base as if he wanted to show himself to c9 (not sure if this was the intention but it seemed a bit like it). He didn't have travels at that point. At the same time s4 had popped an invis rune top and stopped pushing the lane, which may have caused c9 to believe he tp'd back. Then c9 proceed to move forward, Arteezy buys travels, and it's already too late. I suppose they just didn't have some sort of a calming voice in the team who made sure that people have necessary tp's since the side lanes were rather pushed in, and also the courier dying earlier contributed to it, as often it's just sort of automatic for players to deliver a tp scroll if they don't have one. Rather frustrating way to lose I'm sure.

But looking to the future I think the play they showed in the playoffs was encouraging. I wouldn't be surprised if c9 is stronger in future events.

C9 had a pretty good result.

If anything, games you lose with obvious mistakes ("throws") say better stuff about the team than marginal losses. It makes it easier to point to areas which you can fix and the fix itself is far more simple.
Did you ever say Yes to a single joy?

Looking at the positives

- FATA played like an absolute beast in all his games, even the ones they lost. His only bad performance was the Axe game (g3 vs secret)
- Envy's jugger was a treat to watch, apart from his bad G2 vs secret. It seems like every patch he finds one hero which he plays on an absolutely different level compared to carries from other teams. Hands down best Juggernaut of DAC IMHO. His play on other heroes was not that notable though.
- Misery was pretty amazing throughout the tournament, apart form the lackluster Day 2 (where pretty much everyone sucked). He was probably the best Lion player in the tournament.
- BDN was pretty inconsistent, aside from some big plays on Chen and Zeus.
- Bone7 ..... Top class Batrider, Clockwerk and Prophet. Probably one of the only offlaners in the tourney who actually played Prophet. Absolutely shit level Axe, Jugger, Bristle and LC. Every other offlaner played Axe , Jugger and Bristle at an acceptable level in the tournament, except Bone7.

Edit: Also, LOL at this tweet.

Envy fan since NTH.

It's really not unreasonable to think that. He was consistently playing that hero on a very high level. Granted, not many players were consistently playing the hero.

Chinese fans have apparently dubbed Bone7 Beng7, beng meaning to collapse or crumble.

Offlane seems like a really hard role to fill at the moment.

If you think about disappointing players of DAC, you think of Rabbit, bone7 and ROTK (at least vs Secret). Maybe funn1k too.

The 2 finalists had the arguably best offlaners in Universe and iceiceice.
zai also deserves some credit in his first tournament playing offlane.

That nickname has been with him for quite some time, although this tournament pretty much solidified his position as the bringer of collapse among the chinese fans.

As a general rule, every notable player at least has a derogatory nickname in the chinese fandom. The more popular you are, the more nicknames you have.

Misery's going to Shanghai to Seattle to discuss things with Valve on behalf of the players. Don't know if he's going as an independent party or to represent C9.

I remember reading that all Bone7 would eat when travelling is watermelon and rice? That must be a reason where he could play amazing at game one but loses the stamina needed for the subsequent ones. Thus the throws. Cloud9 needs a nutritionist asap. These guys are living a pretty sedentary lifestyle, they need to eat the right food to perform at their best.

Oh dear god. I think one of the biggest changes in my life was fixing up my diet. It made everything so much easier.
I know when I eat poorly my energy / mood goes all over the place. It would be utterly hilarious if all C9 needed to become more consistent was just take better care of their bodies.

How do you predict C9 will shape up in the coming months?

notail and misery are good players, nothing much will change unless bone7 settles down for more consistency.

At least athletes do it mostly for the Potasium (blood-sugar regulation & heart) and the Carbs (energy)

im not sure why e-athletes (are we allow to call them that?) do it

the tricore of black, envy and fata has ti winning potential. i think they could make it work, and all three are good enough to swap lanes game to game

I mean same thing right? These guys spend hours sitting down looking at screens so the blood-sugar regulation part/energy (players often don't eat for long periods of time) make sense.

Bananas are also good too lol

idk if ever that happens .. we have to assume envy switches to offlane or maybe black does

the current lineup is probably better maybe .. iceiceice said that bone-chan is the best offlaner of europe(which is ironic cause he flames bone-chan rofl) when he is consistent which is sadly an issue
