I feel that win over EG may be huge for c9 mentally. They were looking like they would take it, then they dropped 2 games. Then they were in an extremely strong position in the last game, almost threw it away, and still managed to keep it together for the final play and fight to take the series. It was like the classic c9 moment but they still managed to hold it back and prevail, wp.

it can work both ways really

maybe they'll get too confident and lose to secret by underestimating them

They may lose sure, but I highly doubt it will be due to underestimating anyone. I meant it more in the sense that if you lose over and over in the final rounds, it may start to creep up in your mind in game 5 when you are there again. Now they managed to win and it probably makes it easier to keep it together and play well next time as well.

That game was every reason to watch c9. Always crazy. Always a lot of ups and downs no matter what.

They lost game 4, not so much cause of draft but everything collapsed but envy and vici had way too much control for a TB to go 1 v 5.

C9 was outclassed today. Even game 3 they should have loss, and didn't do anything worthy that game to win.

Indeed, it's hard to say what part of it exactly was c9 playing under their potential and what was VG playing really well, but if you are under such pressure from 10mins onwards every game any small individual mistake you make will show. None of the games really got to a point where c9 would have done well early, making it difficult for VG to get deep wards. Now everything c9 tried was just too easy to anticipate when VG got so much early information through either Brood/Axe camping c9 forest or their deep warding that c9 wasn't prepared for.

I think the brood just got into their heads too much, so they had to really mix up their drafts, and ended up giving away the Sky + Tide combo in the last game.

Fata was just useless this series though, easily his weakest performance on C9 so far. He overcommited way too much vs Icex3 and got repeatedly punished. Even vs EG his invoker play was uninspiring, and so many times his veno was just not in the right place when needed.

I don't understand why they didnt pick anything from last week's Dreamleague, like the ET+ zeus + slark combinations.

Bone7 needs to play more "meta" offlaners. He just cant keep playing Legion + Batrider over and over and expect to get away with it. He needs to play tide, centaur and maybe timber at a higher level. They are definitely two levels lower than his Bat,

Finally the lich picks (both this series and vs EG), left me scratching my head. He offers nothing past the early 5 minutes. Enigma, or a 4 position naga( even though AUI doesnt play it) would have been an all round better pick.

the brood ban in the first phase made no sense, it's not like they can't deal with her if vg picked earlier than 5th pick. c9 just seem to have a significant mental block whenever they reach the finals of something, where at least 1 person plays awful along with really questionable drafting compared to the games leading up to the final. they really messed up dewarding as well, I honestly thought the wards vg placed near the dire ancients were very common locations.

Yea brood will never be picked in first phase. Even if it did get picked, it will be easy to deal with. If they're scared of brood, ban the hero in 2nd phase.

Did you see the second game? Broodmother wrecked them. Even with an ET, puck, rubick, legion, she still took over and sucked up all the jungle. Which destroyed c9's economy while AM did whatever he felt like. And if they didn't try to stop iceiceice, he just kept taking base. I fully agree with that ban. Cause they did counter her with aoe wave clear galore and it wasn't enough.

Honestly I think the early Brood ban was because the first two games changed the way c9 understood Brood and they just didn't want to see it again. Coming into the series they obviously knew that VG might pick it considering they picked it the groups against c9, and thought they could handle it. But yet the Brood still managed to have a tremendous impact in both games giving a lot of information for VG and heavily restricting c9's ability to farm their own woods. They probably felt that they had the tools to deal with him for example in the 2nd game, and they still failed. After the 3rd game that c9 managed to snatch, they may have felt that they can't handle the way VG uses the Brood and even as a first phase pick it would be hard for them, and VG might just pick it early.

Another explanation could be that because the 3 first games didn't go well for c9 (although the 3rd game ended in their win), they just totally wanted to change the draft around. There are some situations where teams ban a hero in the 1st phase that the opponent may not even be 1st picking just to leave some other strong heroes in the pool so that you can get what you want in the early picks (enemy can't ban or pick them all).

C9 rely too much on efficiency and farming to win. They are not as good at fighting pushing or ganking. Once brood denies their jungle it's over. 0 jungle farm.
