It'll be awkward having Solo compete in a Starladder again.

That's usually how it works for these. I think there has been starladders with Chinese games happening within 8 hours of the announcement.

So the Starladder crew is confident enough to increase the presence in a venue like Minsk. I hope they have a successful LAN.

EG is banned from Starseries for making their conflict with SLTV public (the prize money issue) and bailing out in the middle of the season. If I remember correctly.

EG is directly invited because they don't want to participate in a qualifier where they will utterly demolish anyone but have to spend hours upon hours to do so.

So after missing two SL seasons they suddenly become first team in 13 seasons to get direct invite? sounds suspicious. dota2.starladder has nothing about it.

By the way, where was the original source for EG direct invite. I remember it was mentioned in original announcement but now it looks lost.

Well, to be fair, "TI chamions" goes a long way to getting invited.

More like "after two seasons of top teams skipping SL, organizers realize they have zero clout and have to actively entice top teams to play in their tournament".
EG made it known that they don't need these tournaments, and SL realized they needed top teams. Also the reason why SL finals aren't held in countries Chinese teams are scared to go to.
