Classic queue seems the middle road. It saves the mute button quite a bit. I even had people asking for item recommendations. Only issue with classic queue is when you are higher rank and there's 500 mmr disparity in the team; picking support feels like griefing the team. All the other modes are casual, people are not going to try hard enough to make it fun. thx for coming to my ted talk
what bracket are you in? i know the top 300+ leaderboard people don't queue ranked roles

if ur above 7.5k+ no matter what u queue, roles or no roles, you are put into the no role queue and if a single 7.5k+ player is in the game then there are no roles in the game

I'm not high mmr, I've played like month or two a year for a long time. However it today occurred to me that dota has no sensitivity slider so mr janitor plz
|
i was just responding to why high mmr players seem to always queue classic -- they dont have a choice based on their mmr
|
I think it's been literally a year since I've played dota and if I played i'd still have 4500 mmr or something. I want decay pls..
|
wasnt it two resets ? i recently played on an old account like 5years+, still had the same mmr as before
|
When they reset it wasn't even really a real reset. They just dropped people down to the bottom of their current bracket, iirc, except for Immortal players. I'd have to lose something like 50-55 games in a row to get to what my real mmr would be right now.

Realistically, how hard is it to learn to effectively play earth spirit? That is, to actually be useful in a game and not missing all the spells?

Es is pretty tricky to play well. the low range on his ult always makes teamfighting pretty hard for me. managing the stuns/silence/ult radius takes a lot of getting used to. rip the days when you could get guaranteed tower dive kills from like 1800 range at level 3.

it took me about 20 games to hit what I wanted most of the time (mind, a lot of those were turbo, which I highly recommend for ES). About 45-50 to actually feel like I was 'good' at him.
Some people advised turning quick cast on just for him... which was probably a mistake for me, with probably 3-4k games of dota/hon under my belt before that. I got way less accurate, and hitting his skills is a lot more important than doing them super fast for the most part, and it probably would've taken me about 15-20 less games if I hadn't been doing that.
Note that even at the pro level people just sometimes miss with the hero.
