Ryza 2 was an improvement in all combat aspects, but it felt like only half a game story-wise. An enemy comes out of basically nowhere as the final boss, you beat them, game ends. I'm almost positive there'll be a 3rd entry based on the ending, but that makes it difficult to want to bother with the NG+ aspects. It also suffers from some balance issues - the initial difficulties unlocked become trivial to the point of beating the final boss with one attack if you know how to work the system at all. The harder difficulties are actually locked behind beating the game... but you get to keep your super imba items at restart. I'm trying to figure out how to get cheatengine to work with big picture so that I can stream rpg games with speedhack turned on to my living room, but so far it's gotten weird results (the games lag super hard when hooked). I'm also really liking the new trend of porting every JRPG to PC after a year... no real need to bother with emulators anymore. Now just gotta decide what I feel like playing through next... the only atelier games I have left are a couple of the untranslated originals that got fantranslations a while back and the last half of Meruru (which was good, but I went on vacation in the middle and lost interest).

Ryza 1 was a pretty good game all around, for all that it had one of the oddest choices for a long running series (they switched to ATB from turn based, on the 22nd entry in the series, when all others were turn based). The non-combat aspects were great while the combat was just OK. This reminds me so much of ITH reporting about his latest visual novel endeavours! Anyone know if he's doing fine?
