It's an exploit, not a hack. Will be fixed in a patch today

No need to make it more complicated. Just make it so you get 1.25x gold earned for the duration. Not saying that's something you want in the game but that's a better way to do it.

Report them and see if their new ban notification works. :D Do you get more than ten reports? I've been hording in fear that i won't have one when the uber jackass's show up. But so far everyone I've played with had been fairly good mannered. Even when I went 1/19 on veno one time. >.<

The limit is 10 times per day. Same with commendations. This is to avoid spam.

So I won a beta key via the playdota draw today and I just wanted to ask - what would you guys recommend to be the best way to get to know the roles and heroes in the game? I know the general basics since I play LoL and understand the basic concepts. What would be good reading material to understand what I should be doing and understand the item builds and stuff so I don't cause much rage to the people I play with?

On the hero pick screen it shows heroes roles. Granted most heroes have more than 1 role. Also at the shop it does give recommended items. They're not ideal, but they're generally not awful either.

I was more looking for articles/guides I could read up in my free time  I love reading up that sort of stuff anyways.
For example stuff like that guide flamewheel (it was flamewheel right?) posted some time ago.

Some of these WILL be outdated, but they should give you a general idea, also dota 2 has a limited hero pool compared to dota 1 obviously, so make sure that you don't study up on heroes that are not in the game yet.
Also, I suggest watching mTw.Synderen if you want to watch a stream, he is incredibly helpfull and communicates with his chat really well, you can ask him all sorts of questions and if he isn't activly playing he will answer them alot, also when he is playing he will often give tips on what he is playing, what he is thinking, its really good.

Well for basics theres the blogs stickied at the top of the dota 2 section. Hero guide wise, I never use them so I don't know where to point you that way. Can learn a lot watching streams though.
