As a programmer i can't stay away from creating random things and decided to maybe make some D3 mods that don't break any rules.

Here's the first one i created:

It's a very basic buff display that has a seperate movable/resizable box for each of the visible buffs, it works by taking an image, splitting it to 5 different images and then proceeds to display those images.

This one is quite far from a release version but works for me right now, as you can see it's quite heavy for what it does right now:

(5-10% cpu | 70k max mem)

And well i was wondering if people would be interested in such mods and why hasn't anyone created even simple ones like this.

It would be very simple to create one that displays more than the 5 buffs but then again that would possibly be against blizzards rules.

Probably because it breaks the ToS. Although you could easily make a thread asking for this to implemented on blizzards side with different options for displaying the cooldowns/buff/debuff timers. Maybe they already have them planned with pvp coming in. But honestly the quickbars show pretty much everything you need to see.

Well a mod like this wouldn't break any rules, maybe blizz wouldn't like it for whatever reason but it doesn't modify/read the client in any ways. A lot of different mods could be made just by "reading" the screen and calculating values like adding cooldown timers and so on. I just personally like having buffs visible where i want them, maybe they'll allow ui customization someday but i doubt it.

not when you have nv stacks and shrines taking up half your buff icons. :\ the 5 icon limit is retarded and there's no reason it should exist (their argument is something along the lines of "UI becomes too cluttered" ... yeah right). if i'm in a party i pretty much never see my own buffs/serenity timers which is really dumb

lol I'd like to see these sorts of things, they are the best. This is a good one to show off to a peer of the opposite sex. I'm afraid to ask but did this take a long time? a few weeks? a few months?
