In Entropia Universe people sell guns regularly for 15-20k $(some bullets that are consumable cost in hundreds $$$..) It's still an absurd amount of money for most of us to pay for an item, but whoever bought it has enough and I guess he really likes Diablo 3. I wonder how much were the most expensive items in Diablo 2? I think I remember some windforce going for around ~2k.

plasticgiantcatbear Anyone here that thinks buying a virtual vanity item is any different from buying a physical vanity item (ex. a piece of art) is stupid. Both can be destroyed, both have varying opinions of its aesthetic value, and both are essentially worthless in virtually every way. Although its unnecessarily rude, he makes a good point. It seems ridiculous, but really is it any different than buying a great work of art? If the player thinks it has such value, if he really loves the game, I can see how they may be equivalent. Also that space station the guy bought in the article can be seen more as an investment. That game, Entropia, apparently has its own economy where people can make money similar to Diablo 3. If you manage your space station right, then he could get a good return on investment. Besides that he loves the game. Why not?

to be honest, if I could spend 10000€ a month, I might consider buying such an "once a year" item as well. just because I can. also keep in mind that the item will retain most of its value over time. even if he decides to quit d3 in e.g. half a year, he could easily resell it for 4k or something around that.

If the linked Wizard is his mainchar its just the perfect example of Pay2Win! This guy is probably only farming a little bit of MP0 - such a waste! If he's got massive amounts of money lying around, why not? He apparently enjoys the game and doesn't have an issue with money. Might as well spend it on what you want. Sure to us who don't have millions laying around in some bank account we don't get it, but to him it's not shit.
