true dat. i dont really like it - its neither good game design nor promoting build diversity when all the endgame builds are about nothing else than movement speed. every 3rd post in the wizard thread is whine about the disadvantage that wizards got compared to barbs or dhs because they dont have an equally good skill for moving around quickly. not to speak about monks or even wds. the wizards at least got teleport with wormhole for some speedup. Well, I guess I will just finish Inferno and be done with it. But being from a small group of Barbs that reach ACT3 Inferno within 2 weeks after release to this is quite..meh.

would 2 handed weapons be better for ww barbs? I tried using a cheap 2h weapon, and it feels like I can easily keep my hp up with just life steal, and looking at some of the stronger 2h weapons, it feels like the dps will be much higher than most comparable dual weild weapon options. does DW have some other benefit, other than fast attack speed + loh, that Im not thinking of? just want to get some opinions from the more experienced people before spending like 40m on one :D

Alright. I have been toying around with 2hand builds for a while, and to my joy I found a nice Skorn yesterday so now I'm even more exited to try it out :D

My build relies on self heal, rend and a bit of lucky revenge procs ^^ It actually works quite well, especialy rend is mad good. I'm just wondering about my main ability, I use frenzy atm but it feels weak and ineffective, but cleave feels really really slow. Any general suggestions?
Ow I'm doing A3 with this, killed Ghom (really really fast).

Tough as nails would provide more armor for you at the moment. I'll see how I'm doing later in A2 (as far as I've gotten as of yet), but Frenzy has just been a boss-killer, Charge with CD-reduction + life on hit is badass for aoe rend don't handle very well.

After patch 1.05 comes I think i will try continue using Warcry but with Vet Warning rune. I can do act3 run with WotB open and this bonuses gave me %49.3 total dodge chance. I wil try.

I mean... you can pull it off, but due to the extremely slow hitting attacks you have constant fury issues. Just buy a mediocre 2H for dirt cheap and have a play.
I tried a bunch of 2H builds, and a couple of different build varieties worked and felt pretty fun.... then I put on my dual wield weapons again, and it was plainly obvious the DW tornado build blew everything else out of the water.

well, the way how tornados work with the dam of mainhand and sometimes speed of the offhand, there is a lot to gain from the combination of a quick offhand and a slower mainhand. additionally, it means that the dps from the offhand dont matter that much, so that sick adds can be obtained from it. not even the higher base rolls of 2handers can compete with that. it is also easier to get the required stats from 2 items than having to get them all in one package. a feasible 2hander needs: high damage, ll or very high loh, 150+ base crit or socket plus 100+ base crit, and strength. good luck finding such a 2hander...

You should look at this thread: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=360185 It has lots of information about the type of barb you are building. I could try to give advice here, but Trang's thread will do the job far more comprehensively than I ever could here. A brief summary of your issues are:
Your build is poor - changing your skills is easy and free, which is always the best upgrade! Try the build linked in the thread above. Bear in mind that WOTB shouldn't be relied upon - it should basically be a "convenience" skill. You should be able to comfortably kill anything without the use of WOTB, and WOTB is just there to make elites quicker and less of a hassle.
You are gearing your barb to do as much damage as possible, but you haven't first made sure he can survive properly. Tank-based barbs need substantially more EHP (effective hit points; read the thread ) than you have, which is why you're dying. Essentially, you must be able to heal more damage than you are taking just through the use of revenge (with Furious Charge just being there for emergencies or breaking jailer etc).

Hey guys, I leveled my barb to 60 earlier and geared up quickly in hopes of doing fast Act 3 runs. http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Notomi-1288/hero/22663939 I currently have 344% crit damage and around 47%~ crit chance(with buffs) with 1100 LoH and 2.90% life steal to take advantage of the crit damage. I have around 850~ avg all res with buffs and I still am not able to do act 3 properly. Can someone give me some advice? :3

One thing I noticed about your stats was that your armor seems really low. You should try replacing Animosity with Nerves of Steel or Tough as Nails (whichever gives you more armor). Otherwise your stats seems easily good enough to run Act 3. If you still have trouble after changing the passive, you can also try just using a shield for a while with 10% crit and go back to DW when you have some better gear.

Is my armor too low for Act3? elite mobs tend to hit me for 5k to 6k even though my res is not that bad and my armor is 6800 with nerves of steel passive and war cry combined so.. T_T

Hello!
I think what you lack is attack speed. Your MH and OH are both slow and you have no IAS on any item. IAS makes LoH better, increases your fury gain and allows you to spend fury faster so your WotB is up for longer. Here's my profile: http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Nudelfisk-2464/hero/4948862 . I have less life and around the same res/armor and I survive just fine. My items are not perfect (I want to replace my OH and my MH as well, once I hit enough paragon to do so and still be at 300% MF) but just to make a point that your defensive stats are alright.
I'd try to find a low-dps OH with good stats and fast attack speed. Or switch out the Nomad's Loop ring - I think you can lose the 30 AR and gain some str/vit and IAS relatively cheaply. Eventually once I'm comfortable with surviving, I'd get an andariels visage... and probably replace the gloves with ones with AR to compensate for the defensive loss.
The way I see it, damage is a luxuary - focus on surviving first and then sub out for damage.

So I'm back now after a holiday, only to find that with paragon levels now there is an incentive to farm efficiently using the WW/Sprint build. Prior to patch 1.04 I only cared about feeling awesome and unkillable (as a Tanky Barb), and I didn't care about farming efficiency because farming only brought in gold which I could get through flipping in the AH anyway. So I decided to give WW/Sprint a go to farm. To those still running Tanky Barbs, don't fear, I have not fallen to the dark side! I still have all my tank gear in my stash for when I have a reason to use it again (party games, or maybe future patch 1.05 features giving us harder fights).
Here's my profile now: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Trang-6265/hero/3963417
I threw down about 15M on some WW/Sprint gear, and 15M more for a SoJ. Half my gear was already there from my Tanky days. I don't know how to farm these Alkaizer runs as fast as people say you can do it. A run of those 5 areas takes me probably 13-15 minutes, excluding identifying gear. Sure I've read some people do variations where you only pick up iLevel 63 drops (I'm picking up 61-63), but if you want the kind of speed that Alkaizer achieves, then half the time you're running away from dead mobs so fast that you don't even know what drops. Mobs drop like flies already, so I'm not sure if killing speed is the main issue. My WotB is almost always up, unless I get unlucky with running into bad dead ends.
Is there something I'm missing?
Also, I notice the Alkaizer approach uses a Mighty Weapon instead of an Axe. I imagine that the 10% added CC from using an Axe shrinks the fury generation gap a bit, but I'm not sure how much of a difference it makes. My previous weapon was a Mighty Weapon, and while I felt some difference changing, there was also the fact that my current Axe had a significantly higher DPS (200+ more), so white mobs were dying more often, thereby generating less fury. So I'm not sure how much is attributable to the Mighty Weapon. Is anyone out there using a Mighty Weapon and finding that it really makes a difference? It may not matter in the end anyway, since I usually have little trouble keeping up WotB, unless I get unlucky in the map layout department.
So I'm still trying to find the missing piece in the puzzle that makes my run slower. And I'm starting to think it really is mostly just the fact that I do loot some rares, is this correct?
PS Any glaring deficiencies in my gear?

PS Any glaring deficiencies in my gear? well, alkaizer once said on his stream that his 80k damage are the highest he can go to without killing trash too quickly for fury regen. he also said that this is why he likes the soj so much: it closes the gap between trash and elite killspeed. if one intentionally doesnt go above roughly 80k for fury issues, then elite kills would take too long otherwise.
i personally have made the jump from 57k to 80k dps in the last few days and it does make a difference. this is not the main reason for your slowdown, however. alkaizer skipped warcry and replaced it with rend with savage. this is the key to his high speed: he starts the fight against elites with one rend, then does the usual ww/nado dps while rend still does its work simultaneously. therefore, his effective dps increases by a huge amount.

Not a weakness or anything but you might consider switching out nerves of steel for boon of bul-kathos, just to make sure you're wotb is always up, and if it falls, it's already on cooldown. Plus, it affords you a little more time to slow down to get drops. I was able to successfully use it with less stats (except ~100 more AR) than you. Worth a try out imo at least, if you can afford to drop nerves.

Hi all. Here is my barb.
http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Jack-2713/hero/19521259
I farm without problem Act2, but i can't farm act3 without dying too much (maybe i'm just bad). I've got ~4m in gold, can you give me any tips on what i can buy from the AH to improve my survivability? Thanks to all

Put thrive on chaos rune on wotb and try to get a dagger or sword offhand, two maces is just so slow. Maybe a hair more loh too?

O_o, someone just linked this guy in irc: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/藍眼淚-3283/hero/23696903
415k dps... 1.5k dps skorn, 456% crit damage, 37.5% + 10% axe + 5% ruthless + 5% base + 10% wotb + 3%battle rage = 70.5% crit chance. 3163 str. aspd + 54%. but 0 loh or % life steal. no clue how he survives, guess he just 1 shots everything?!
