Using the melee build and I switched my amulet for this

I lost like 6k DPS but my survivability went up a ton. LOH matters a lot for this build.

I'd spend like 500k on the highest blue socketed weapon that you can get maybe 850 dps? I'm not gonna check for you but just search on the auction house for a weapon with a socket and put 500k as the max buyout. Then switch from the shield to a decent offhand skull, they can go really cheap even just like something with max dmg 350 and some int should be enough for act 1 and would go for less than 50k. Use the rest to get a real armor with inherent int vit and all res with 3 sockets to boost the int, shouldnt be too expensive.

Also you can guy +70 int +6%as rings very cheap and they'll add more dps if you can afford losing the vit on ur rings

It's kinda hard to comment since he's playing hardcore... Don't really know what 1.3m can get you in hardcore too... One thing though, don't drop your shield :p Maybe upgrade your belt if rings and ammy are too expensive? Your resists are definitely enough for a1 i think...

I have 10 arcane on crit but my crit chance is 49%. That is sufficient for me but I am fairly geared.

I would recommend 13-15 arcane on crit if you're at lower crit chance.

The two cheapest and most obvious places to get arcane on crit are helm and offhand.

Crit damage on weapon is a luxury. Your weapon is fine.

The whole point of the build is the be able to cast frost nova indefinitely at a rate that is faster than however long frost nova freezes for. This will result perma-frozen elites.

To achieve this you need:

- high crit chance; this means critical mass procs more often which means frozen nova's cd shortened

- arcane power on crit; why? because if you don't have this, how are you going to spam wicked wind with 0 arcane power. After you cast a few wicked winds with your first, they will crit and give you arcane power, in term which will allow you cast even more wicked winds. the more crits that happen, the more arcane power you have generated from crit, the more wicked winds you can cast, which means more dps

- fast casting speed; casting animation is proportion to your attack speed. the faster you can cast winds, the more crit procs you're gonna get

- some LoH (you don't need insane amounts of it). about 300 is fine. twisted winds hit so fast (combined with the fact that if you have all of the conditions above, you can cast even more) your hp should rarely never dip, combine that with almost perma-frozen elites and infinite diamond skin

The whole build is amazing. The synergy is insane. Once you have the right numbers and gear, you can literally just walk into a pack of elites and spam 2, 3 and right click (frost nova, diamond skin, and wicked wind) until they are dead.

while i do agree that this build is pretty amazing, I do have a few concerns. I spent all day testing in Act 3 with 10AP on crit, 34% CC, 917 LoH, 850-900 res all, 35k hp and 30k dps. Being able to walk up to a pack of reflect damage phasebeasts and own them in 30 seconds is a great feeling. I know i need more AP on crit, i just picked up a really cheap helm off the AH with int/vit/AP on crit just to try the build out before i drop millions of gold into it.

BUT

I cringed every time I saw "desecrator." especially if they were ranged. Arcane enchanted also gave me trouble.

The build is weak vs single targets. Some of the yellow bosses were a PITA after I owned up their minions. Again, mostly the ranged ones who want to dance around.

are you using the cooldown rune or the crit chance rune on frost nova? seems like with 45%+ CC you could go with the cooldown rune, but lower than that, CC rune seems necessary?

what type of stats should i shoot for, as in dps/hp/res all/CC/CD

Crit chance rune or dmg rune both are fine. I have high crit chance so I opt for more dmg. If you're struggling with single targets, crit chance rune is useless. You need to hit more than 5 targets otherwise you don't get the bonus. Go with dmg rune on frost nova.

My stats are 101k dps with sparkflint and scoundrel (you have to use scoundrel - get him any low dps cheap bow with
cold damage and loh, you don't need him to do dps, just have enough loh to survive. his multishot will chill all opponents due to the cold damage and 3% crit chance aura is monstrous). 49% crit with scoundrel aura, 45k hp, 500 all res in non archon form, and 280 crit dmg, like 100 LoH. currently working on improving my all res to 750 while maintaining all other stats.

When I encounter elites, I just go improved archon and blast them in seconds including phasebeasts. It's only a few elites with certain pre-fixes that I have trouble with that I need to employ the frost nova/wicked wind strat (fast, shielding phasebeasts for example). Most of the time, I just melt them in archon form.

you have too much all res at the expense of dps. I would say use your gold towards changing your gear. Aim for something like

60k dps with sparkflint, 400-500 all res, 40% CC, 200-300 LoH, 40k hp

You're too skewed towards survivability at the moment. It is better to have every elite pack that you face difficult to kill (but nonethless killable) rather than dominate some and have a few that are impossible/take forever and ever to kill. Should have a balance in all stat categories.

After you hit those stats and you have act 3 on farm, then all gold goes into getting 80k dps with sparkflint while maintaining all other stats, obviously.

Hey guys, I've been upgrading my wizard lately, and recently bought a new chest piece, however it doesn't show on the character in the game .... this is the first time I've had this is there any way to fix this or just purely a bug and can't do anything about it? Sorry I work full time and play casually so don't mean to be a nub.

There are items in game called 'dyes'. They allow you to dye your clothing certain colors. There a specific dye called 'vanishing dye'. It basically makes an item you wear invisible.

The person you bought it from probably had it dyed with vanishing dye.

Go to vendors in town to play around with dyes. Find a color you like and then dye your chest and it'll appear on your character again.

So i want to change from kiting wizz to melee. I have pretty much no attack speed or crit chance on my stuff so i'm trying to build that up. One question tho .. do i need attack speed ? Or it's more a luxury ? Wicked wind procs more or the same ?

And is it better to use explosive blast for damage dealing while wicked wind generates ap ? Also does ww stack ?

Hey guys, is there any "normal" way to beat Ghom post patch? I'm a standard hydra+AO/blizz wiz, tried many different skills here and I'm still getting mauled. I bought some shield with all res and poison res, but gas clouds kill me anyway. From what I've seen, one way is to go melee with frost nova, dia skin and loh, but I don't really have gear for that. Is the only advice to get gas clouds close to each other and hope it will last enough to start disappearing? Or should I just try to find some barb/monk ally that can stand in clouds?

atk speed definetly a luxury, it has little effect before you got a high crit and ESPECIALLY arcane on crit.

It just lets you use more spells in less time, mostly more wicked winds up, but if you don't gain enough arcane to benefit from that it is no use.

so where should i look to get ap on crit? i just sold my barb weapon for $50 and am looking to get a better wiz weapon and offhand... but it seems the wands that have ap on crit also have very little dps. (can't find anything >900 w/ socket)

is it worth the hit in dps or should I get it from the offhand and helm? or do I just need 1 ap on crit item?

melee wizard
damage is now 17K
all resists almost 1.2K
HP is 56k

i still feel like a paper on act 3 though

I would definitely upgrade those rings as your next investment. If there are no good deals save your money and wait for the good deals! You can probably add more int and crit chance/damage for not that much gold.

The two cheapest places and most common places to find ap on crit are offhand and helm.

If you're lower than 40% crit chance, I would suggest at the very least 14 ap on crit. If you're above 40%, 11-13 is fine, imo. Take this with a grain of salt, I haven't tested lower crit %s with this build. I can say, however, that at 45%+ crit chance, 10ap is fine.

For your main hand, get a wand or dagger. The faster attack speed means faster casting animation and it'll scale with your ###-### dmg offhand better. Get one perferable with a socket in it so you can put crit dmg gem in it - every other stat on the weapon is a luxury.
