I'm not really sure what to be looking for for my armour, what's considered decent, etc. I have almost 4 million to spend and a lot of my armour isn't very good, so I really want to get some upgrades. I have sort of the same problem. Before, it was considered a fact that attackspeed nor crit helped with hydra/blizzard, so I focused all my gear on pure int/vit... then people actually tested and found that both spells are in fact affected and suddenly it was considered important to get decent attack speed and crit again.
Personally, I'm in the situation where I have about 30k hp, 33k dps, 19% movement speed, 250 allres and I've gotten to this boring point where I can't find any upgrades for my gear which don't cost over a million, even though I don't even feel powerful enough to do seigebreaker reliably, blizzard and hydra just won't do enough damage, it takes ridiculously long to kill some elite packs and you still die constantly.
I would assume that your gear should be focused something like this: Int Vit +allres attack speed (not too much though since you'll get ap starved, i hear 1.5-1.6 is good to aim for) crit chance crit damage
But as you say, gear with decent stats according to this table are insanely expensive.

I dont get why people are so obsessed with +allres. The gear is really really expensive and as a mage you dont need it anyways. I sell +allres gear every day for insane prices. And for what do you need cold, poison, arcan resist anyways ? Arcan enchanted boss thingie is easily avoidable. Maybe act 4 you need it ? Im doing siege and azmo only. Imo concentrate an +armor, +fire res and +phy res. The items are way way cheaper with similar other stats. At least for siege, azmo this is my experience.
We have to see what the IAS nerf will look like. For now its obv the best way to ramp up your damage.

You forgot about:
- %life - % movement speed
So you have a more or less complete list of al stats. (except dex/str)
I would never build my gear around a build. builds change, builds getting nerfed, builds getting boring. The game is very young.
It might be not an easy suggestion as saying take that unique and that stats. But just try to get gear that let you survive and then add what you like what feels easy to play. This way you also safe alot of money when you don't run behind every new "build" someone is posting.

50k dps, 45k hp, 580 all res, 5800 armor, 1.48 aps. All raw damage, no boost on crit chance and crit damage.
So what's next? Keep farming for better gear? But what's the point? For show I guess?
Or I might try to roll other classes now, especially a WD so I can use some of my gear.
Sell ur stuff on rmah get loads of cash. Reroll ezmode tankbarb.

Exactly what I just did. Though my wiz stuff hasn't sold. I overpriced it for now. At least $50 a piece.

Thank for the reply, what factors into your decision to switch between peircing orb/AO and blizzard/hydra? also does your peircing orb/AO build use temporal flux?
Yes, when using Arcane Orb, I have to use Temporal Flux Passive Skill (20% snare). Switching between PO/AO and Blizzard/Hydra is for survivability. If your damage is high enough, orbs will do the job before they get to you. In most of the case (past act3) monsters wont die that quick tho, so you need a better "snaring spell" which is Blizzard (50% snare). As an additionnal benefit from switching to Blizzard, it frees up 1 defensive skill (usualy crystal skin into Hydra) and 1 passive skill (Temporal Flux into Galv Ward).

![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/eEumk.png) Which would you pick? The one on the left has slightly higher int and 48 allres, but the one on the right gives me about 2k more HP and a considerable amount of armor.
|
The one on the left is better because of that extra intelligence. Extra INT means more resistance and damage. The 196 life per second is helpful too.
Effectively, the extra resistance and intelligence is giving you the difference of HP .

That was my impression. Picked the one on the left up for 2.2m with the intention to resell then realised it was probably better than mine (the right one). Gonna keep it then, thanks

pretty much type in your desired affixes into the filter (shock pulse damage/crit/int/mf) and then only bother mousing over things with the demi lich (skull) icon or Occuli

Basically this. Make sure you put level 60 in the level filter.

Just so that misinformation does not spread I wanted to point out that attack speed does not increase the damage of blizzard (though it increases the casting speed).

Nope I play a barb stuck in Act II with 900k gold. Leveling a wizard right now; I'm sure top end barbs are better but I don't have the budget.
Also, I'm looking for the 'standard' Blizzard / Hydra build. Flipped through about 30 pages and didn't find anything; so far I know its:
Force weapon DS - Crystal Shell Venom Hydra Energy Armor - Force armor Blizzard - rune?

Magic missile is usually there as well so you have something to do other than cast 2 spells and run around.
Blizzard rune is up to you, I've heard people use the additional slow or the chance to freeze or the larger aoe or the longer duration.

The additional slow, chance to freeze, and extra duration runes are absolutely terrible. The choice is really between the larger aoe and reduced cost, which depends on your build and gear. I go blizz/hydra/MM and use fat 2h'er with no atk speed so I go for the larger aoe.
