I figure as long as I'm around my comfortable rate of attacks per second, I can focus more on crit damage and crit chance. I don't think natalya's gaze is worth it, maybe a 2 piece set of cloak + ring. Add the boot if you really want 3 piece. A rare helm with +6% crit chance and 150 dex is better imo. Andy's is still good and even post patch, it should still be close to being best in slot (esp if you get a high dex roll on it) Neither slots are worth it tbh. With natalyas boots you lose up to 250 dex i think (my rares have 232 at least). With the helm you lose the ias and also about 100 dex compared to a good andys.

So I am in Act 2 Nightmare now, and the major thing I have found is that I lack everything. In part (imo) because this game is so heavily based on gears. I have been rushing to catch up with friends who got the game weeks ago, so yeah. I wanted to know A) what stats I should be focusing on with gears, B) what amount of DPS and other stats I should have by Act 2 nightmare (I currently have 450ish dps? and the guy with me told me to go buy stuff), and then also what level I should be currently, am at 38 which seems fine imo, though I have no idea what skills to stick with, in part because my dps is so awful. Thanks in advance for any help

Just get as much Dex as you can and a high DPS weapon with a socket. Because gems have no level requirement and are so cheap on the AH they are a great way to over gear yourself without spending a lot. At level 34 I had 600dps with pretty bad gear and bad gems. Basically get dex all over the place, look for sockets, get a weapon with reduced level requirement and a socket and you're set. Don't spend a lot - you'll be levelling quickly.
In terms of skills, just go with what's fun in Nightmare!

Because I hope not. I'm just waiting for the day that they make it only hit large targets once The day that I stop playing this soon-to-be-trash game :p Double hitting is pretty hilarious imo I could see it getting removed but it's provided my most hilarious fuck my life moment in this game. See golden mob on act 3 inferno ramparts Read Horde Missile Dampening Something Something Do note that I had an attack speed shrine at this point. Templar blocks the mob and it's minions at a choke point. I dump a full globe of hatred on nether tentacles and decide to read the last two affixes. Reflect Damage. 50k hp toast instantly from my own damage. Now the funny part, instead of rezzing i'm laughing at myself and watching the numbers just fly through the roof as the tentacles take forever to pass through everything. They kill the horde minions, the main mob and then the normal minions behind the rare pack just get blasted after the missile dampening disappears. My first missile dampening mob was reflect dmg as well, it was fucking hilarious I thought it will reduce my missile's dmg as or something then I died instantly, the pack as well so np.
I see missile dampening so rarely that I thought it was shielding or invulnerable minions at first when I saw one last night. It was on a colossal gorgor unique pack. I fired a few nether tentacles while running back a little. I had to do a double take to figure out what that aura is so I wasn't paying attention to the phase beast that teleported to kill me.
The pack walked back a bit after I died, with the NTs right on top of them. That means they got hit with NT more. The few shots I fired took out a few minions almost half the hp of the unique. The colossal gorgors have a lot of hp as well. I'm really hoping to see more of these. This affix is too rare for all the hilarity it causes.

Just hit 60 and Inferno. 1k weapon seems to be the purchase of choice. Any other suggestions?
Something I'm considering is just levelling alts until 1.0.3 is in and the dust has settled...

I'd say a 1k+ dps weapon of your choice(xbow or bow), try to avoid getting attack speed on it as it will be nerfed next patch, so your weapon dps will go down if the weap has attack speed on there.

I wonder if there is a chance that existing items with IAS won't be changed, just new items? I know this would screw PvP but games have done it in the past...I seem to remember reading about something like this happening in D2 even.

In the dev blog they say they're changing them.

I doubt they would just leave the old weapons be, but change the old armor values. Not really willing to risk spending 5mil on a weap that will have an extremely high possibility of losing a couple-hundred dps in two weeks
Better safe than sorry IMO, that's why I'm shopping for high dps weaps that have no attack speed increase.

Thanks in advance for any help You can burn through all the way to inferno with just high dps. When looking for a weapon use reduced lvl requirement as one of your search options, it should net in way higher dps weapons. So for example you being lvl 38 look for items 30-43 with -5 lvl requirements or 30-45 with -7 lvl requirements.

When comparing items, should i look at the gold value?
|
You can look at the gold value if your criteria for good gear is how much the vendor will buy it for. On the other hand if you care about stats that actually help you in the game then I wouldn't bother looking at the gold value.

For DH Specific gear?
Dex, Attack Speed, Crit Chance, Crit DMG.
If it has any of those two plus vitality and all resist, should sell really well. Magic find, vitality, or gold find. combined with three of those also sells well.

Anyone else annoyed by all of the FOTM reroll-DH's? Apparently we're OP because our class isn't as gear-dependant as a barbarian, but they don't seem to grasp it's also a lot harder to play at high difficulty and that once the other classes(Monk, barb) have top-tier gear they will as effective if not more effective than our class.
I feel like it's WoW all over again -- FOTM Rerolls because people on Bnet forums QQ about their class(due to not taking the time to learn to play properly or lacking skill), everyone turns into OP class, Blizzard says nope and then inc unnecessary nerfs :/

I got a really good weapon drop that has 21% attack speed increase. Fortunately, my only other attack speed increase items are two 15% rings so I'm hoping my dps doesn't nosedive that badly in 1.03. It does seem that rings are really the biggest problem in terms of IAS being too good. That and IAS legendaries on certain slots that don't normally have IAS. IAS on weapons seem fine compared to other stats weapons can have.

Weapon ias and all other ias are independant and treated differently. The weapons listed attacks/second is multiplied by the ias from all other gear slots. Thus a 50% nerf to ias on a weapon will be a much more significant hit to your overall dps than any other ias nerf.
If you have a 1k dps weapon with 20% ias, that weapon will be only be 916.7dps after a 50% nerf. (1000*1.1/1.2 = 916.66...) Because of the way skills scale based on weapon damage that is a fairly significant nerf. Further, your weapon will depreciate much more than the 15% you would loose from the AH tax due to the drop in listed dps.

Hello I am a lvl 60 DH just entering Inferno, I have a rare 1k dmg bow 2% life leech, most of my items are 100 dex and about 50ish dext, no special atributes. I have 2 million (and counting) saved to spend what should I be looking for? I want to start changing each one of my things. Can someone name specific things I should look for each one of the armor stuff? is any legendary worth to buy for a DH? how about lacuni or the ring with 15 ias? I'm on the US so if someone wants to talk pm me for tag.
