From what I've seen it doesnt seem like it.....but I dunno, haven't played. That's for beta; for D3 it was written long ago it would use tiles for partial random generation of levels.

I believe it's random. There are many companions available. It seems when you use the scroll it's randomly chosen. I've seen Chicken, Sheep, Pig, mouse(i think, i couldnt really tell the stream quality was bad), roach (beetle?), and snake. They dont do anything combat related, so them having levels would be pointless. They merely are there to pick up gold. Which really makes sense. There are many destructible objects that had a moderate chance of dropping gold, for a ranged class destroying these it would be quite tedious to always have too run and pick up the gold. I'm sure there will be uses for it for melee classes too, but since alot of the time melee is going to be ontop of the gold drop anyways it's not as annoying to pick up gold. I actually wished they would do away with the scroll, and instead granted them as rewards for achievements in game (like defeating act 1, 2, 3, 4, and then each difficulty). Give them a cooldown or something so they arent always used and are not as intrusive if that's what people want. (I personally would rather just have one always out)

(I personally would rather just have one always out) i think the main reason for the companions is multiplayer. if you are in a game where 4 ppl kill monsters its very useful to have a companion who collects the gold. so you can keep the pace up and dont fall back because you need to collect gold

Yes you can team up with your friends, even if you are at max lvl, and they are fresh characters, but you'll have to join on normal difficulty and that won't be fun at all for you. And no, you can't start on the hardest difficulty, would be utterly retarded, since you won't be able to defeat a single mob. And you'll most likely die in 1 hit. Sorry for my rudeness, but I recommend you to play some diablo 2, you'll understand a lot more about the difficulty system used, plus if you haven't played diablo 2, you have missed A LOT. /facepalm Somebody has no idea about a Simple Question, Simple Answer thread. Yes it's true that this persons lack of knowledge about Diablo is astounding, and yes the questions that they are asking are pretty obvious, but isn't the whole purpose of this thread to give these "simple" answers? No point telling him he has no clue about the game... I'm pretty sure he wouldn't be posting if he knew the answer already. Sorry for my rudeness but I recommend you read some of the other Simple Question/Simple Answer threads before you start posting things like this.

For low levels a chicken makes sense, would just look kind of dumb to run around (for example, total guess) Hell with a chicken at your side. One very weird item modifier I saw was: Automatic gold pick-up range +3. That was unexpected. How is the GOLD_FROM_GROUND / GOLD_FROM_SELLING ratio in the Beta? It would have to be a LOT higher than in D2 to make sense, no?

Apparently you have to have either a world of warcraft account or a SC2 account to get a chance to enter the beta. Make sure to upload your PC info in the beta profile settings on your battle.net account and make sure also to opt into the diablo 3 beta.

Can some1 give me any more details regarding skill progression as you lever up for any caster class. Couse its rather clear to see how a higher lvl barb would be more powerful but i cant see it for a wizard/WD. Or do you just have to use higher level skills to be effective (i know higer lvl = better i just dont like the idea of being forced to use the last 6 skills you unlock. Kind of defeats the purpose of their "you can make infinite char with the 6 available skills)

And javazons. | ||

will it get to the point similar to d2 where you have to your 1 MF character fully decked in +MF% to make runs efficient? Or will we be able to farm effectively on our mains?
