Hi, I hope im in time for some GOM TV employees to still read this. I have bought every single season ticket you have offered but when I read the article I thought that it was April Fools and this was a funny joke you guys are playing on us. Sadly, we are still some days away from April fools which made me so confused I needed to register on here and post my thoughts.
How does a person who cant speak proper English get a job casting for English fans? Does GOM want to expand its viewer base and did they want a Girl casting to attract female viewers? Unfortunately I have listened to some of this girls casts and I turned off the stream immediately because
1) You cant understand a word she says 2) She has no concept of the game and says the same cliche lines every chance she gets. 3) Very Annoying Caster (VAC)
There are much better girls out there that actually SPEAK English that people will actually understand, sure they might not have in depth knowledge of the game like the other male casters but you guys are just looking for a side-kick to attract the female fans because there is no way in hell that you guys hired Kelly for her SC2 knowledge or skillset.
I am boycotting GOMTV and will just download all of the games instead, I suggest everyone do the same and hit them where it hurts since they dont care about us viewers. So hit them back and pirate all of the matches which are uploaded a couple hours after the VOD's hit their site.
GOM TV How would you like If I hired some Turkish guy to commentate the Korean games on Korean TV with broken Korean nobody could understand?
Why not hire a random girl who speaks English and Korean? She will be more usefull than this girl.
Was there really nobody else out there? Bottom of the Well Fishing?
I was really happy with GOMTV and the way they were doing things and then they go and screw it all up.
Is there someone we can write to so they can fire the person who hired her? Maybe he was using his other "brain" when he made this decision. (Under the table deals)

B.S. If you put a guy up there who can't talk (properly...or UNDERSTANDABLY), then he would get roasted in the exact same way.
Ok, that relates to her casting, not her personality.
I hear how well she casts is actually important... while personality really doesn't mean much if you still don't know what your talking about and no one can hear you..

Well.
First I'll start by saying that you're probably going to get banned for promoting pirating - especially bad considering the underdeveloped (and under appreciated in my opinion) state E-sports are in.
Secondly, I'd recommend you still buy a ticket or at the worst watch the FREE stream that Gom TV provides. I don't really care about pirating, but even if I could find the VODs free somewhere, I'd still buy the ticket to access them out of principal. I don't like her voice either, but she has the job and will only keep it if she does good work.
I read on some news article that apparently a lot of people applied. This just makes less sense that kelly was picked. Surely there must have been at least one person who applied that could actually speak English and was in masters.

Yeah. It will be interesting. I'm sure she'll disagree with one of em. (even tastosis has disagreements) I'd be fairly sure Tastosis could be correct, but the unspoken disagreement could be interesting.

First off, she has a lack of knowledge of the game. If your going to be casting games with Artosis and Tasteless, guys who live eat breath starcraft, then you should be able to have a vast knowledge of the game and it's inner mechanisms as well. She's hard to understand at times and casters need to be articulative at all times. The audience will stop watching or press mute on the TV if there is an annoying person talking.
Digging deeper, I know why she bothers so many of us here.
Looking at her twitter page and some of her FB posts screenshots, her attitude/personality are a big turn off. She's arrogant when she shouldn't be about anything and thinks people should grovel at her feet.
*Pro-tip* Kelly - Buying expensive clothes doesn't make you more desirable. It just shows that your materialistic. This tips on the house but the next one will cost ya.
She's an attention seeker, taking mulitiple self-pics of herself and posting them. People who do this have self-esteem issues about themselves.
I can tell she thinks shes floating on air since she's surrounded herself by people with the stereotypes of being bad with girls (eg - the lonely gamer). Sorry, this isn't true.
When I see someone start talking about "the haters" it signals "prude" to me. If you really cared about this game Kelly, you'd take the criticism and learn from it. You just block it out, very unprofessional. Your not who you think you are. We don't want a "wannabe-socialite/diva" representing us.
The only guys this girl attracts are ones that don't play Sc, and she can have them. No one here cares.
She needs to take her trashy prude attitude back to wherever she came from. She's using the Sc2 platform as a stepping stone. The guys who let her cast with them should politely brush her off when she returns.
To sum up,if the Sc2 community wants a girl to represent them at GSL, she's a terrible choice. I'm positive that there are girls involved in this game who could do so much better (press heart to continue could kick ass at this if she wanted too).
I don't think I was over the top so hopefully this post won't get deleted.
That is literally the best 1st post i've ever seen on TL. By far. Well done.
That should be a lesson to many other people on these threads..

Viola! Useful and insightful post.
Not hating, not flaming. Clear, concise, Supported opinion.

That's one of the things I had against her casting. I'm not against her as a person, but she has demonstrated that she has no affinity for anyone who co-casts with her and she doesn't have that much knowledge about SC2.

I don't think she really cares about gaming, to be honest. I think she cares more about being popular and e-famous.

I could not agree with you more.
Its been stated by many people on these forums that her accent can make it hard to understand her and i completely agree with all those posts. I cannot understand her during most of her commentating.
But what bothers me the most is her attitude to life and her personality.
Posting on twitter about going to cast the GSL before GOM even announce their choice of commentators is just insulting to GOM and to the SC2 esports community.
Her tumblr.com page is "fuckslits.tumblr.com" where she states she is a "FASHION FIEND" and she posts dozens of photo's of herself and states she is "Pretty baller for a nerd, no".
So she thinks she is a queen and thinks its "cool" to associate herself with web pages with titles like "fuckslits"...
This is not someone that should represent arguably the grandest Starcraft 2 tournament.
I looked through the thread but didn't find this... didn't freaking MOLETRAP apply for the job? If he doesn't count as having experience - who does?? Granted, some people viewed his commentary as not being technical enough... but is this Kelly whoever really going to be a better analyst than him?..

I think having experience wasn't the only criterion. They were seeing if the caster can have his/her own residence, air tickets and schedule planned to fit Gom's. So there might have been some back and forth communication between the applicants and maybe Kelly's criteria matched those Gom wanted.
Am I the only one who would really like to hear a interview this Junkka about this(sorry if i spelled his name incorrectly).
side note : Why does she have like 50 photos of herself, yet each one avoids the camera straight on- ie : never showing her actual face.
Putting "getting high with me", at first I thought she didn't suite the job- but this is interesting; what if a new young player checks her site after GSL, realises their caster is cynical, into drugs, and 'fuckslits'. Please mature it up for esports if your going to take on a role like this.
edit: There is also a Nazi-Meme GIF on her website, about 1/2 the way down in the GIF section: Gom should really look into this. I don't think they realize what is going on here. Sorry if this seems over the top, I wasn't going to say anything until I looked at her newest blog at "fuckslit"

Really?
When you're attempting to grow eSports and reach as many people possible, you probably want to have your casters speak English clearly. Any kind of thick accent is just going to alienate a great chunk of viewers. Personality, knowledge of the game, any of that doesn't matter if a large group of viewers have trouble understanding you.
Do I understand what she's saying in that video? Yes, but barely. It's distracting.
A lot of GOM's viewers are not native english speakers (like myself).... so having a caster with a thick accent can be really hard to cope with. But hey, she might get herself together in time for the GSL, wich is starting tomorow.
edit: just realised the poster right above me wrote more or less exactly the same thing! :D
more edit: reading a bit futher back and visiting her blog, im sort of getting the feeling she needs to get a bit more professional if she want's to get taken serious.
