Why would a Terran invest in Reapers when dropship harass is a much more viable strategy and doesn't require you to tech into a corner?

I'm really not understanding the terran's QQ. You still have plenty of cheese openings available to you. Saying this eliminates cheese options is just silly. Hell, you can still proxy rax. It just comes a little later. This is completely ridiculous. Yeah, you can still proxy barracks, but it would be a pointless exercise when you can't rush with the units in the first place. The purpose of proxy barracks (usually on 7 supply) is to have units (either reapers or ~5 marines) in the opponent's base prior to the four-minute mark, which is when his first couple of defensive units will be appearing. If you force depot before supply, there is literally no way to sacrifice economy for the sake of an all-in rush--your push will always be delayed by a minute, and your opponent will always have several units to defend while reinforcing easily with workers. And if you are silly enough to try to proxy a 12 rax, your worker will be a sitting duck for even a late scout--good luck trying to recover when your very first unit-producing structure has been forced to cancel. It's just a ridiculous change that's going to change XvT into a battle of fast expansions and macro.

if you want to stop reapers, do depot before tech lab or something strange like that no in fact I think the increased reaper build time is already good enough... and the reason you need cheese in games is to make it interesting... it would be pretty boring if every game were some huge macrofest then everyone would just get greedier and greedier and blah.

This sounds a lot like the "Omg Roaches are useless now that they are 2 food" talk that happened during beta. Yeah Blizzard changed the tech for Reapers, does that mean they are the worst unit ever? No. Does it mean you have to be creative with them now? Yes. What stops someone from making a few reapers and raiding bases mid-late game? They are still powerful scouts too, 50/50 is a good price to pay to see what your opponent is up to. Most people dont keep their entire army inside their main base. I had no idea that a Barracks with a Tech Lab and a Factory was "Teching into a corner."

also, i'm cursious to see how well terrans can defend cheese now....seems that proxy gates or 6 pool will just roll terran due to lack of marines early even if you scout it.
