We realized from the start that players would want to access and use StarCraft II and Battle.net in different ways. That’s why we created a variety of access options to suit different play styles and levels of commitment. Players can choose from multiple time-based passes if they know they’ll play intermittently, or they can choose an unlimited-access pass.

Is this a step towards pay-per-play like WoW or am I misinterpreting this?

This has been their plan from the start. If they planned on implementing it outside of Korea they would have on release.

I didn't know they were introducing pro leagues, I'm interpreting this as like a league above diamond, I don't think they have mentioned this before.

theyve mentioned pro leagues since 2008..everyone knew it was in their plans

i would like an update concerning balance. do they still plan to balance the game for team play, and largely untouch 1v1? -_-

We continue to receive questions about the status of the negotiations between GomTV and organizations such as KeSPA, OGN, and MBC. We recognize many of you are interested to continue watching StarCraft I matches on TV, and as long as there is interest, we would like to see that continue as well. As GomTV is our exclusive tournament and broadcasting licensee in Korea, I cannot provide too many details about their ongoing negotiations other than to say that I am aware of the status of the negotiations and remain optimistic that these parties will be able to reach agreements that allow this to happen. Contrary to what you may have heard, it would make us very happy to see both StarCraft and StarCraft II matches continue to be televised at the professional level. These are both Blizzard games, after all.

ok i read so much crap in this mail , biggest one is the pay to play even if u buyed already hour games (180 $ for the 3 games) , and u can't even make a map and play it with your frends

p.s if blizzard doesn't allow other ppl to make maps ( for example the guys from kespa who are making bw maps for 10 years) , we whont discover the true potential of sc2 , cause this maps that blizzard makes let's admit it are silly

What?

You wouldn't pay 180$ , and THEN pay to play.

It would be just pay to play. You don't pay the 60$ at all, just the pay to play. And only certain countries even get that option to begin with.

Why is it that every time the different options that are available to certain countries is mentioned somebody gets this wild out of this world idea?

Listen, korea has several methods of playing the game... they can:
Buy the full game at the same price as any other country
Buy a partial game for cheap then pay for monthly passes
Buy daily passes
And apparently, play WoW and get it entirely free.

There might be even more methods, but these are the ones that I know about.

lol classic spin by blizzard...but blizzard, actions really do speak louder than words I'm afraid..

And thank you for addressing the KOREAN COMMUNITY once again proving how little blizzard cares about the foreign community...

How about a GSL in Europe or USA?

Why don't you try to create esports in another country instead of crashing someone else's party?

Oh that's right, you're not capable of such a thing...you did abandon bw...the only reason it's alive and well is because of Kespa.

I think this is a very important part. Can we stop claiming Blizzard wants BW to die now?

Other than that I'm highly interested in the custom maps. :D
Thanks for the info Waxangel!

Yes, because people in positions highly filled with money say everything that's the truth, not what the people who cut their checks want to hear, right?

Right!

Apparently not everyone, it's news to me. I'm intrigued.

It interests me how it's often the same old-BW/longtime TL members that constantly want the game to be made less accessable to new players and be balanced and focus more around pro's and top tier players (no MBS, automine, etc), are the same people who complain the second Blizzard appears to only show recognition to a group that doesn't include them

"Focus on the pros! No not their pros, our pros! Gah you're so biased blizzard why can't you cater to everyoneohwait..."

Edit: I should add I'm not directing this comment specifically at the user I quoted, but reading his post reminded me of this fact so I quoted the line for context.
