Why are people complaining about what he wrote? Yes, he didn't delve too deeply into the negotiations going on right now, because there's an entire NDA on it and they're still talking with them.

I will take Blizzard's sterile, indifferent response to a situation they can't openly talk about as opposed to the incredibly one-sided viewpoint you always read in letters from KeSPA.

I call it damage control with all the shit flying around.

Don't see why people are being negative. What did you guys expect? We learned that there will be pro and SEMI PRO leagues, which is new news at least (I don't think semi pro news has been mentioned).

Seasons coming up, sounds awesome. Chat channels... YES!

Of course it's going to be PR shit, but there is some actual positive content here. I swear some of you live in a fucked up world where you think that Blizzard is just going to release a fantasy letter detailing your deepest thoughts and dreams while being perfectly candid. That's not how the world works.

In my opinion, the less Blizzard cares about E-sports -- the better.

We recognize many of you are interested to continue watching StarCraft I matches on TV, and as long as there is interest, we would like to see that continue as well. As GomTV is our exclusive tournament and broadcasting licensee in Korea, I cannot provide too many details about their ongoing negotiations other than to say that I am aware of the status of the negotiations and remain optimistic that these parties will be able to reach agreements that allow this to happen. Contrary to what you may have heard, it would make us very happy to see both StarCraft and StarCraft II matches continue to be televised at the professional level. These are both Blizzard games, after all.

This brought warmth to my heart and tears to my eyes.

Its just sad the same cant be said for WC3. Its been a known fact for yeras now. Blizzard really WANTS it to die, there's really no discussion about it. They never bring it up in any discussion or topic, they claimed to be working on a patch for it like 2 months ago but not a single word has been heard since then. All blizzard's focus is on the money-bringing games, old school games of which a lot of players has their passion laid are being completely ignored. Wow, I could even press in D2 in here of which a lot of people has enjoyed over the year. Its the most ignored game of all times basicly, letting hackers rule over all without lifting a finger to help it out. Really blizzard really does nothing that doesnt give them some profit of some kind, which is kinda sad because they already recieve such enormous profits from WoW and SC2 so one could think they could alteast do something for their oldie goldie games but to just let them rot in despair.

Which is something both parties are then guilty of. And again, I prefer the professional response to the sensationalist one KeSPA puts out.

ACTIVISION*cough*blizz are at it again.

Blizz might care somewhat about the actual esport scene, but Activision (who writes their paychecks) doesn't. They only care about profit margin and monopoly.

This letter is just PR to make the general public feel good about letting Acti*cough*Blizz control everything about SC in Korea, and by proxy, everything esport (SC-wise) around the world.

And oh hey, they're introducing a groundbreaking new feature! Chatrooms! They've only been a standard since 1995. Semi-Pro and Pro league/ladders look interesting, though.

I bet half of the people posting in this thread complaining about Blizzard have SC2 alt-tabbed while doing it. XD

Actually, the way custom maps are viewed was something that people have been complaining extensively about (on Bnet's forums at least).

Or about adding custom made maps to ladder seasons... aka Iccup.

And while we’re confident that we’ve released one of the most balanced RTS games ever, perfect balance is a never-ending battle -- and something we will continue to strive for.

Never-ending battle. He said it.

Nonetheless, really looking forward to the new custom maps. I want epic third-person shooters!

Sure Blizzard rememberd Starcraft BW after only 22 years later and after Kespa managed to creat something out of nothing after corporations like Korea on Air, Shinnan Bank, Samsung put some serius money on a game that in west was long dead. Blizzard only cares how to get the money and nothing else and this 'gentlement' sure has alote of nerve after banning Kespas ips, and doing everyting to creat problems rember to send a letter and welcome the success we all know he will never have.

Well mr stay were you are and out of Korea we know the upcomming league of BW will mutch more stonger that the previus one and we will see better games.

What does he mean by
We realized from the start that players would want to access and use StarCraft II and Battle.net in different ways. That’s why we created a variety of access options to suit different play styles and levels of commitment. Players can choose from multiple time-based passes if they know they’ll play intermittently, or they can choose an unlimited-access pass.
is he suggesting that we'll have to pay for bnet?

With this letter, I can safely say: BW is not dying, BW is being brutally murdered and Blizzard is being hypocrite about it.

Yeah, my version of Star2 is a 6-month one in LA Server. It's sold for R$50 which is $29.70. Will buy the full-time in NA server one day, who knows...
