Is simply too old and lame looking to attract the next generation of players worldwide. Already it is largely confined to South Korea. Even without SC2 there was no long term future for it.
Just my opinion.

I mean GOM is great and they're doing a wonderful job but SC2 would immediately seem a lot more serious when broadcasted on an actual network.

We’ve enhanced how custom maps are sorted and viewed That should read fucked up. Custom map organization is a joke. There's no Search to JOIN games? are you kidding me? and popularity is an absolutely ridiculous way to sort 1000s of different game types and games. Plus, if you want to create a map off your own goddamn computer, well prepare to jump through hoops mawfukka! Obviously Actiblizzions idea of 'accessable' and 'improved' are completely disconnected from reality.

We continue to receive questions about the status of the negotiations between GomTV and organizations such as KeSPA, OGN, and MBC. We recognize many of you are interested to continue watching StarCraft I matches on TV, and as long as there is interest, we would like to see that continue as well. As GomTV is our exclusive tournament and broadcasting licensee in Korea, I cannot provide too many details about their ongoing negotiations other than to say that I am aware of the status of the negotiations and remain optimistic that these parties will be able to reach agreements that allow this to happen. Contrary to what you may have heard, it would make us very happy to see both StarCraft and StarCraft II matches continue to be televised at the professional level. These are both Blizzard games, after all. So, this struck me as bullshit. If he's being sincere and Blizzard does want to see Brood War and SC2 co-exist in Korea then why doesn't he just tell Gretech that the KeSPA deal of 3 million won is perfectly acceptable. Why don't they just make it work? It really shouldn't be very hard.

I wonder how many PR nerds this had to go through to become so incredibly vanilla.

I wonder how many PR nerds this had to go through to become so incredibly vanilla. Yeah I agree with you Mani, This was nothing but a big ass publicity statement. Lets advertise a little, give the people what they want to hear / keep them interested. And try to make them seem like they are amazing for what they are giving us. I am not saying its a bad move.. any company would more then likely do what they do. But this letter has no reason to be sent out except for the fact that it is a way to keeping the community on blizzards side.

He said a bunch of nice things without really committing into anything that we already didn't knew. So, no real news at all.

BW is a 15 year old game with no ongoing development and it looks like a 15 year old game. It doesn't matter that it is 'perfectly' balanced (if you are a 300APM Korean progamer) that it has a horde of diehard fans in Korean and around the further support th world. The reality is that with noe game is DEAD in the long term Sc2 or no Sc2. Is simply too old and lame looking to attract the next generation of players worldwide. Would you have been happy if Blizzard instead of releasing SC2 released "Starcraft Broodwar 2010" and simply upgraded the graphics of Starcraft Broodwar to current standard and left everything else exactly the same?

I agree...I actually liked watching GSL1, unlike a lot of hardcore BW fans, but BW still has the #1 place in my heart and Blizzard seems content to let it rot.
