Phasing is one of the main drivers for me wanting to play non-live. Lots of gameplay/social impact and it actually ruins server performance in the open world as well, i constantly have 100+ms response time on spells now with 15 ping because i'm phased somewhere with performance issues. It used to run WAY better, no nostalgia.

Yeah, give people the Classic experience they wanted. Let them see how much issues the game actually had and that the myriad of changes since has been to address actual problems that existed, then tell them 'we told you so but you wouldn't listen'.

Oh well. now we get years of "it wasn't vanilla enough".

Kinda surprised Azshara is the 2nd raid.
Is the 3e raid going to be 'totally not Garrosh 2.0 Sylvanas'?

Suppose it makes N'zoth very likely but I kinda expected him to get his own expansion.

8.2 is bringing warfronts that you can queue into with friends, new difficulty+mechanics+rewards

That's like, "you think you do but you don't" tier right there. It's probably more damaging in the long run because they can't really fall back on it and go the other way like they did with the decision to make WoW Classic.

Lots of people super upset about this for many reasons. It currently has 4k likes to 105k dislikes on Youtube and Blizzard is mass deleting / censoring negative comments on the video, not just hateful stuff but actual constructive criticism.. just nuking everything. Guy got his comment deleted 4 times off of the top spot for the quote "No King Rules Forever My Son".



Six times! They've actually got somebody sat at a computer removing half of the comments on the diablo announcements. 4.5k likes and 122k dislikes so far, they haven't hidden that yet.

Sure it is, the legion pace was just disappointing so keeping pace with that still feels bad. It took quite a while to get unlocked and then about 4 months after we unlocked it we were off to Argus where flying was not possible.

I'd rather flying for BFA come in the 8.1 to maybe 8.1.5 timeline at the latest if we're not gonna be able to use it in 8.3 anyway. We've seen the content, exalted with everyone for months before 8.1 already.

They could even open flying only on the older content and gate the 8.2 and 8.3 stuff for 3 months each to additionally unlock flying in those particular zones, whatever. That's enough time, is it not?

Really? Because that sounds like the opening of the first post launch EU server (Haomarush). Queues so long people would log in before going to work in the hopes to get through by the time they got back, GM's going around kicking people afking in random huts with macro's to avoid the automatic disconnect. And then everyone left when the next new server opened.

It would be the ultimate vanilla experience.

Xal'atath is dormant after Silithus. The player character gets the dagger in a questline and empowers her until she breaks free.

Sylvanas is going to use the dagger to imprison N'zoth. Likely to die in the process so we have our heroic sacrifice to redeem her character.

Saurfang will be new warchief and the next expansion roll around.

Doesn't really mean there will be phasing/sharding in the live version. It's clear that Blizzard is ensuring that the demo experience is smooth for everyone who purchased into it. As how it should be.

MDI is pretty good, but I kinda woulda liked to see each set be played on all 3 maps to show off every map (even if a team won 3-0).

They said that there will be sharding in classic but it will apparently be minimal. I'l have to wait and see how it is with sharding having huge drawbacks in the live version of the game for gameplay and server performance. Maybe a lot of the constant server performance problems during the day of WOD through BFA is related to CRZ etc rather than just sharding, it's very hard to say for sure.

They're still mass deleting comments over on the youtube video lol, top comment has been reposted and re-upvoted to #1 for the 13'th time. 287k votes with a 32:1 dislike to like ratio.

They're also apparantly taking down clips of the announcement/Q&A they don't like, even though posting blizzcon Q&A clips has always been considered fine and stuff like the red shirt guys videos were never taken down.

When you have 1000 people in one zone it might create 10 zones of 100 people instead of 1 zone of 1000 people

Most people into classic wow very specifically don't want sharding because they want a consistent community that isn't split by random shards, blizzard even admitted that no sharding was a tenet of the classic experience:
"One of the tenets of Classic WoW is none of the cross-server realms and different [server] sharding options that we have available to us today."


If they actually have sharding as a thing in the final product they're frankly idiots
If they exclusively use it for launch night/week i could kind of accept it, but that's it

I'm pretty much in agreement there

Sharding sounds good in some ways but just hasn't played out well in practice IMO. Main issues being so many "edge cases" which cause issues and haven't really been thought about or fixed ever.

Quick examples - if you're dueling somebody and join a group, you often get pulled into another shard and instantly fortfeit the duel + can't see any of the players that were just hanging out in town with you.

There may be five versions of a rare mob on X server instead of one, and hopping from group to group to try your luck and camp many shards is more effective gameplay than camping it out on one single shard/server - i hate this server hoppy gameplay personally and have quit other games entirely over stressing about hopping between shards to find a "good" one constantly.

If you try to make a 40 man raid, all being on the same server, you often find that your raid is in three different phases even though they're standing on the same spot so you can't do the activity that you were trying to do. You might find when your 40 dudes run into Orgrimmar that 95% of the horde players are phased out and you've ended up in a weird version of Org that has the same amount of alliance players as horde, and all of your alliance guys are level 60 while most of the orgrimmar population is level 10-50 so you just stomp over them while horde defenders can't actually zone in to fight you because the shard is at full capacity for both factions.

Since there are less concerns about overloading the servers, they tend to be ran much closer to capacity and with WAY more players per server - like three times as many as we used to have. If a server is ever not at 100% CPU load or whatever during the day then they spin up more shards and add more and more players so that the server is at 100% load and that results in an experience which is consistently laggy and weird. It's like playing with 100+ms ping, spikes to 500ms throughout the whole day even though you have 13 ping to the server and the spikes extend to multiple entire seconds at a time of no server responses very regularly when fighting e.g. a world boss or around lots of players that are phasing on/off the server!

Dungeons have their own servers and do not experience this lag.
