The items of other people do not alter your gameplay and should not change your enjoyment of the game, unlesss that guy is applying to your guild and taking away your raidspot. That you still have to do old raids because of set bonuses is blizzards fail to make newer sets stronger than the old ones and including legendaries 2+4 or 4+2 should not be a thing. If you feel like you have to grind the heroic version of the raid in addition to the mythic one that is on you, the chance to get an item that is on mythic lvl is less than 3% and less than 1% to be higher than mythic. There are hundreds of thousands of players, so of course some will have a lucky proc, doesnt mean its a worty time investment for you. AP and legendary drops hopefully go away too. M+ is the new thing and takes quite a bit of focus away from raiding. If they keep pushing for it to be competitive, we need titanforging so that its not a top 100 raider only show. Except the randomness does directly affect my enjoyment of the game. If I insert X amount of time in the game I am expecting to be appropriately rewarded and to have better gear or power than someone who spends less time in the game. Likewise if I've spent X amount of time in the game I should also have gotten to a certain skill level, which should be higher than someone that who spent less time. Now if someone who spends less time playing the game and is also possibly of a lower skill level, gets a way better item than me due to luck than I will of course be pissed off. I will be pissed off because I feel cheated, all the time I have spent on the game will feel wasted as no matter how good I am or how much time I am willing to invest someone can just get a lucky dice roll and get something better. You could say however that, on average I should have better gear than someone with less skill and less time, and that may be true, but not all pieces of gear are created equally. A critical legendary or trinket can make or break certain specs and it feels orders of magnitude worst to have it drop to someone who didn't earn it. I hate warforged and titanforged with a passion, I wish it would burn in hellfire for all time across all dimensions and all realities. It just brings so many problems to the game: 1. It makes it nearly impossible to balance the game as you can no longer tweek boss mechanics based on stats. 2. Due to the above certain boss mechanics have to be introduced which, to a certain extent invalidate gear, but this also has the effect of making the fights a lot less fun. 3. This system spits in the face of players who are willing to invest more time or skill to get the better gear.

Class buffs back in a less micromanagement-annoying form than before. Previously if you died before the very end of a fight you had to have a good fraction of the players in the raid stop what they're doing, find you and rebuff you with stuff for optimal performance This version looks like a lot of auras - as long as you have a DH within 40 yards of you, you've got that buff. Some others take the form of a buff that is put on one player in the raid which then buffs everybody else as well, so as long as your buff dude doesn't die then you're good; if they do, you can have a macro somewhere which rebuffs that specific player without requiring attention to find who it is, just a quick tap button. I guess that the main goal of this is to incentivize class diversity. A raid with four rogues would have a physical damage buff but a raid with 2 rogues, a DH and a warrior would have physical damage buff AND +3% haste, +5% str/agi raidwide - a raid might not want to run the 4 rogue config even if they could and it would be optimal otherwise

Sounds like it could be a great start to the expansion with tons of changes to the world. If any of the warfront/islands/3v3 PvP/PvE-things get even close to the replayability of m+ I'm all for it. Hopefully they will not be as dead of content as scenarios back in the day. Cinematic was beyond amazing aswell.

Though I do wonder which patch they're going to give us. If they use the BC Pre-Patch, they kind of make MC and BWL (mostly) obsolete through easily farmable PVP epics. Then again, the older PVP system is kind of terrible. It'd be interesting to see more details about all of this.

It's not random, a specific helm from a certain dungeon will always have the same options (even across normal/heroic/mythic version)

Is progress saved across a slot? Is a new item not going to be 'better' when it drops because you have to progress it first (highly unlikely). Or will it be like Legendaries where they stay with you the entire expansion.

Doesn't seem like there'll be much to attract me back to the game as a player largely focused on solo content. At least it seems to be addressing some obvious stuff, so that's good. I'm curious what kind of content were you looking for?

I miss days of wandering the world, searching for big max level elites that would pose a challenge to kill. Doesn't really happen anymore because they're so weak relative to, say, Wrath/Cata/MoP. Like, the Direhorn dudes in MoP were super fun to solo.
