In the thread it makes no sense, normally maintenance is only a couple of hours on non patch days. That 8 hours is like a huge patch day.
My theory is they are working on something, can't be 7.3.2 as they haven't announced that so they must be implementing something in the background.

DH T21 just got a mention after a long period of anxious silence, the set bonus is staying the same but the 4 piece got more than doubled in power

Previous:

2p - Increases eye beam damage by 30%
4p - Increases haste by 15% for 8 seconds after using eye beam

new:

4p - Increases haste by 40% for 8 seconds after using eye beam

this has >30%, potentially 40% uptime on ST, scaling gradually to 100% uptime with about 8 targets. It stacks multiplicatively with the demonic haste too, so this is a 1x * 1.25x * 1.4x haste buff (1.75x haste multiplier while in demonic)

Previously the set was the best DH multi target set by a good margin but quite questionable ST with some talk of holding onto t19/t20 for a while after the launch and for short fights (2:30) but that should make it a fearsome set while keeping the design the same

Significant Avatar and KJ M nerfs as well

Fallen Avatar

Dark Mark damage reduced by 25% in Heroic difficulty and 20% in Mythic difficulty.

Kil’jaeden

Armageddon Rain damage-over-time and impact damage reduced 15% in Mythic and Heroic difficulties.
Erupting Reflection health reduced 20% in Mythic difficulty.
Flaming Orb time to minimize size reduced to 6 seconds in Heroic and Mythic difficulties (was 10 seconds).
Focused Dreadflame damage reduced to 12 million in Mythic difficulty.
Illidan's Sightless Gaze damage reduced 20% in all difficulties.

Which build? T20 with CCleave + FB and raddon?

Mastery is very appealing stat for multi target and pretty good ST as well but running tier 20 kinda ruins that since blade dance is physical damage and a large % of your damage unless you ignore it which is an even bigger dps loss

------

I've been doing a lot of theorycrafting in the last few days and a lot of stuff looks fun but it's weird to see so little of it from the rest of the community. There are two DH discords, one is a completely unmoderated trash heap and the other gets some useful discussions going but isn't that great overall due to low moderation and a lack of people that care about the spec / theorycrafting any more.

None of the DH t21 styles work properly in simcraft without significant APL mods and some of them that look very strong (blind fury, demonic appetite, chaos blades and demon reborn with DOG) are not even close to functional. I've made hours of my own APL mods but i'm not even aware of anyone else in the world trying to do the same thing, even the guys associated with simcraft.

Basic numbers that i got for 5 min ST, starting with old tier profiles when i began t21 / APL work. They're all using the same gear aside from two variables - which sets are enabled and the ilevel of the tier pieces:

+ Show Spoiler +
T19M / T20M around 1630k with CB, AOTHG+DOG build

---

T21H at 1712k++ with broken blind fury CBreborn build. This looks above the old mythic tiers even with t21 normal~ pulls ahead on short fights, loses on longer ones (standard with chaos blades).

The basic playstyle for this is quite new, running chaos blades with blind fury and demonic appetite (previously unusable without Demonic or the 2p and 4p of this set) and then using the eyebeam reset from demon reborn to get a double 8 sec +40% haste eyebeam buff through each chaos blades. The Blind Fury reset gives a huge flood of damage and fury while Demonic Appetite makes your annihilates drop souls, refunding themselves a lot more and letting the burst power itself despite extreme fury expenditure for a while. Between 2 minute burst windows those souls reduce the eyebeam CD so there are a handful of damage spikes where you end a 4 million damage eyebeam with high fury and +40% haste for 8 sec

---

T21H at 1770k with "standard" 331 demonic, most people know this one. Demon Reborn is a lot better ST, it's always been a bit better than sim suggested but now it's nice and a default option unless there are a good amount of stun souls around.

With more final t21 tuning and the 7.3.2 patch notes going live we're only a week or 2 out from some hilariously incomplete and incorrect info being used to make a tier spreadsheet. The only spec that i'm deeply familiar with (Havoc) is almost certainly going to be wrong in at least a few major ways to the point of being useless so don't rely on those too much

Doesnt surprise me at all, until 2 weeks ago simcraft didnt consider the prot pala t20 2p at all and the sets been out for what, 5 months now? The apl is completely wrong too.

simcraft always has the issue that its only as good as the time the community put in it.

For the first half of the expansion the shadow priest apl strait up didn't work because the player would die from Surrender to Madness before the boss and it would time out.

I miss the days of Elitistjerks and the amount of community theorycrafting that happened around things like WotLK's Deathknight release.
All you get now is 'just sim it'.
It ignores such insignificant forces as time, entropy, and death

Sounds good but a huge percentage of the traffic to theorycrafting areas comes from people who have not read even basic information. People who ignore the trinket list + notes on trinkets and ask "A or B" with zero context - not even their spec/gear or the item level of the 2 trinkets that they're comparing.

People who try to run bot commands in the main discussion channel despite them being removed with a public notice months ago

It drags down the quality of conversation and has to be dealt with in some way; a lot of people have taken to passive aggressive comments. More recently some server mods have put locks on the chats so that you have to be in the servers for 10 mins before being able to write anything which is even more awkward IMO

The problem is you can't use EJ-style moderation anymore; if you do people will just find somewhere else to go. EJ's moderation worked back in the day because it was the sole source for optimal play, and once there were other places to go for that information, largely cribbed and summarized from EJ itself, EJ started declining. In theory all the good theorycrafters shouldn't be affected, but in practice a forum's health still depends on having new blood and a large body of non-contributors.

Granted, that's not the only reason EJ declined, it's just one of many. Cataclysm played a huge part by largely having nothing to talk about (when I updated the Warrior FAQ from WotLK->Cataclysm, barely anything changed, and as far as I'm aware people used that version of the FAQ through MoP). By the time WoD hit simulators were robust enough that the in-depth theorycrafting which once served as a partner and parity check simply wasn't necessary.

In any case, we'll likely never see anything like EJ again, even if Blizzard keeps pushing more and more complexity (SEE: Netherlight Crucible).

Nice. They nerfed both the t19 and the t20 for Monks, while not tweaking the t21 at all.

So now I do ~10% less damage and my spec plays like shit to finish our KJ progress and all I have to look for is a shitty t21 that also makes my spec play like shit.

I don't even want to play anymore.

Not great for the "break old tier" nerfs to hit weeks before the patch. I'm assuming it'll be at least 2, maybe 3 resets from now since they usually give some significant warning

A bunch of stuff got broken in the patch as well, mistress M broken (mechanics invisible), some NH bosses and the mythic+ damage/health buffs and affixes were buffing player pets pets so a lot of records got beaten with ridiculous keys like maw24+2 because of pets doing 8x normal dmg https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/372180229843582977/372467927640965123/WoWScrnShot_102417_153255.jpg

I wonder how blizz and wowprogress etc will handle that, reset leaderboards, going through each run and removing them by hand?

-----

Looks like veng and protpala just got ~6-8% HP buffs. Druids are ~8-30x more popular on the harder bosses right now tho

So I just started Legion, stopped around the second half of Warlords. Is the garrison relevant at all now or is that just content for 90s? Class hall replaced the garrison?

It was basic as shit compared to modern raiding with a ton of rough edges. Like imagine spending 45 mins clearing Molten Core trash to get to the first 2 bosses, wiping, having to run back to the zoning portal from the other side of the whole zone, like a legit 5-10minute ghost run back, only to find that some of the trash you just killed respawned already.

We had some healers stay out of combat in the early days for the whole encounter just to ress people. There was no zone wide combat tag at the start of an encounter back then, so if those guys stood far enough and max range ressed, they might stay out of combat for the whole battle. Boring as shit for them ><.

It was objectively shitty but subjectively the most exciting stuff I've ever done in front of a computer.

I had the second-to-worst class to play in a raid, a healing Druid, and I got zero actual payoff from doing these raids. While Warriors, Hunters and Rogues turned into monsters through their epics, mine didn't do shit, except made me spam healing touch a little longer.

Looking back, I do feel the time was an enermous waste, but I also still remember getting excited whenever a raid began or whenever a boss would drop a T1 item I had enough DKP for.

I would say today's raids are objectively better (better mechanics, more interesting artwork, much bigger payoff) but I still have zero interest in partaking in them for some reason.

Yeah that kinda sums up Vanilla for me. It felt so epic because it was so new and was never done before, plus it was huge numbers of you doing it.
Good times for sure but i agree everything is "better" mechanically now just not in terms of player base or rewarding per se.

There was a community. You knew people on your server that weren't in your guild and built relationships and rapport. Shit was hard to do alone so you were forced to find people and interact with them.

Yeah, that's the aspect that's really fucked up today.

Sure, you can send stool samples to your facebook friends' relatives, but you likely can't name five people on your own server who aren't in your guild.
