I've only tried Balance in Legion, and it has a nice rotation (the little I've tried it), mostly predictable with minor rng elements, as well as decently balanced (heh) in-spec spec choices.

For boomies it looked like they didn't get many mechanical changes but were getting a nice list of buffs and some AOE talents were becoming more viable: FOE buffed by 17.25% Shooting Stars buffed by 31% Soul of the Forest now increases damage by 20% instead of 15% and reduces the AP cost of Starfall by 20 instead of 10 Stellar Drift now buffs starfall damage by 60% instead of 20% Stellar Flare was buffed by ~24% Warrior of Elune was changed from giving 2 instant cast lunar strikes to 3 Echoing Stars buffed by 31% Mastery base increased a bit and mastery value increased by 12.5% ^there's some pretty nice stuff in there that should make dungeons play better

Flamestrike relic BIS.. right after I put it in arcane lol. Thats not entire accurate but you look at the changes they are making and we are basically being worked on like its a new expansion. The secondary stat was scaling nowhere, I complained about that before, but its still amazing to me. Secondary stat scaling is like the first thing you look at in a new expansion.

first it was some random guy in a random heroic who thought I ragequit the group after the server kicked all of us out on reset, now it's an AotC-less healer who came into the group expecting a summon without looking at the raid comp, set up shitty markers on xavius yet I'm the cunt for calling those markers bad and correctly predicting another wipe the summon thing I can understand, probably mistook us DHs for warlocks from the class colors, get that all the time the things I do for alt relics /rant over

Since WotLK, all specs have lost class skills in favour of separating each spec. Frost DK plays decently similar though, and Arcane mage is the only dps with mana management left, so it's kind of like the old days. Healing specs have all maintained their core, but some systems are changed, like totems for Shamans.

Frost DK plays decently similar though DK (frost dps / tank especially) was my favourite class in LK but they reworked the rune system in 4.0 which quite dramatically changed the feel of the class. Hasn't been the same since and likely won't ever be. I think everything plays quite differently, we've had a few rounds of major class reworks in cata and legion. You can use the Class Trial system (or maybe even PTR?) to play some DPS specs at lvl 100 and see what works for you, youtube overviews of the specs are good too.

Runes reworked, no more disease management, no more presences and ridiculously low mobility without the passive 10% movement speed. Especially the last thing irritates me a lot. Apparently the class fantasy is that DKs should be low mobility but hard hitting. It's like they forgot that DKs have had a movement speed buff since wc3. Oh well...

A few of the higher ups do talk regularly about how raids can be melee friendly but the optimal compositions today still generally have 60-90% of the DPS being ranged. To take a melee with poor mobility and middle-of-the-pack damage output is a handicap. With 9 classes capable of melee DPS and 6 capable of ranged it should be the other way around if not neutral. Kinda off topic, sry ![]()

I just dislike it because they say that there were going to avoid classes being changed so drastically and were basically going to be redoing all of the classes in a mid tier patch. Currently rogues do well, but not so drastically better than all other classes that they need to be changed much. Will be seeing how we look once the patch comes out but it will be sucky to just fall behind other people. Also completely random, but Outlaw damage variance. Minimum dps is basically 2nd to last, where as best case scenario is best dps in the game, although this is still at best case scenario only barely ahead of arms average.

Frost hardly had any disease management, no presence swap needed for pve. At least from what I remember. Think you need to copy a live character to play on this PTR.

On January 01 2017 01:17 Cyro wrote: Class changes are about how the damage is done, not the amount of damage I would disagree in some sense. For Assa once you reach a certain amount of mastery, Agonizing poison just does more damage than Exsanguiate. This changes how you play the class (to a less active playstyle) to do more damage. And we still have mandatory talents in PvE for all of our specs. None of them were baked in, although one specific instance of cheat death was nerfed by 300% because a vast majority of PvE rogues took it (I know other cheat death like effects were nerfed as well, but ours was hit the hardest from 2->6 minute CD). In PvE atm Assa, Outlaw, and Sub can do well in damage, even if the class isn't as fun to play. Sub is in a bad state for how the class plays, but in a good state for damage due to how well it scales with gear. Sub feels extremely clunky in its playstyle without the legendary boots to smooth it out. I think most of our specs in PvE are okay. I think there can be tweaks to Outlaw RNG for RtB (like I said variance from bottom 10% to top 1% in damage purely based on what you roll), and Subs overall playstyle (needs more smooth energy regen). In PvP rogues are just a disaster and I have no idea what they are going to do to fix them. I don't PvP much, but when I lose 11-12k agi going into a BG/Arena, thats pretty devastating on actually doing any damage.

Frost hardly had any disease management, no presence swap needed for pve. At least from what I remember. Think you need to copy a live character to play on this PTR. Eh, DKs still have runes, 3 regenerating at a time DK's regenerated 6 runes at a time from 3.0 to 4.0 If you had 2 frost runes and you spent one, you'd have it back in 10 seconds. If you spent two, you'd have 'em both back within 10 seconds of originally spending them; they were basically two seperate runes. That was changed to basically having 3 runes instead of 6, but each rune having 2 charges. If you spent one frost rune it could come back in 7.5 seconds, but if you spent the second one then it would wait til the first was done charging and then add another 7.5 seconds, taking 15s total. That mechanic change didn't seem to mean much to most people, it was done partially for balance reasons IIRC but it changed the feel of the class a lot and it was responsible for my pretty sad benching of DK ever since. Many people have just forgotten about it because they never played the old DK or they've known for new one for 3x longer than the old one, so it became the new normal a long time ago. ---- Think you need to copy a live character to play on this PTR. They actually disabled live character copy 1-2 weeks ago, i'm not sure if you can make a template or if you can't play any more. I was going to copy my live char to test out some mechanics changes in the final weeks before the patch went live but i held off for a while and then i never got the chance
