I've got a free boost that I didnt use when I started.
I have a max level holy priest 875 ilvl as my main, and a 841 ilvl rogue (outlaw) as my alt. I really dont enjoy playing the rogue though, just too repetitive, lack of diversity, kind of boring to spam 3 buttons none stop. Shitty transmogs beyond 1 or two sets.
Looking to boost something else, either a Mage or a Hunter probably. Maybe a Pally. But dont really want to heal again, and ret melee might be something i dont enjoy as well. I also have a druid i plan to level at some point that will likely tank. So not really sure what to make.
Gut tells me to go with range dps, hunter and mage both seem to have some diversity in specs and because ive always either healed, tanked, or melee dps. so its something new.
Part of me wants to go pally just because im a total transmog whore, and pallies have IMO the best transmogs.
But based on me being a transmog whore and looking for something different any suggestions on hunter or mage?
for reference: will likely main the mage as frost... hunter up in the air as per spec.

Didn't they add a trial thing to the boasts so you can see how the class/spec plays? That might give you some answers.

You can make a 100 char of any class and some (limited) specs and play through an ability introduction followed by the broken shore + the artifact questline. After that the character is locked and you have to apply a character boost to use it. You can do that for as many classes as you want before you apply a boost, but as a paladin for example i could not switch out of Ret spec.

If you want something that challenges you and doesn't feel repetitive, I can already tell you to stay away from Hunter. MM is incredibly clunky, and BM was literally made as the " everyone can play WoW " spec. There's really no satisfaction in playing hunt in this expansion.

I didnt realize you could boost it after doing the progress so you dont lose it. (was always what was kind of holding me back using that).
I guess i'll give er a shot. Thanks.

Any lore geeks here? What does Anduin Lothar in Karazhan mean when he says "We tried to alter it, but it was all part of a larger scheme."

This page is getting steadily updated: http://www.simulationcraft.org/reports/Raid_T19M.html
and their reported 7.1.5 havoc DPS went from ~385k (not knowing new patch) to ~451k (new nightly build, that list is a little behind) with gear, talent and APL changes. That's pretty accurate now.
--------
My personal gear and artifact weapon is quite a bit better than the sim profiles - i went from 450k on live to 505k on 7.1.5 (12.2% increase) with no gear changes and could grab another few percent with simple gear optimizations. Three out of my four legendaries are being made much more viable and desirable instead of having people vendor and delete them as a joke, which is just nice after the sinking disappointment of getting the wrong legendaries for a thousand hours of gameplay.
That should make Havoc much more competitive there without those elusive ST legendaries and without "creative abuse of game mechanics"
Nerfs to the top as well as buffs to the bottom so more even all around hopefully.
The value of mainstat has gone up by about +10% relative to other stats as well, which was of course a goal in 7.1.5

Try finding a competitive guild when Sims look like that when you're a Windwalker, sigh This list is even for pure Single Target, which compose 0 fights of Nighthold.
It's not even finished to be updated but some raid leaders are sturborn about that shit. A guild got me to waste 3 weeks with a promise of recruitement until they said they wouldn't go throught with it.

Thats always been my problem with Simcraft. Sims work if they are properly maintained and updated and those reporting on them take proper care to gather realistic data.
The fact that there is a list that is still being updated but has un-updated sims thrown into it is just a terrible way to go about it.
Is the shadowpriest working for StM yet or is it still timing out because the priest dies before the boss and it keeps going forever?

StM has never worked properly in Simcraft, very volatile and hard to model talent. Sims have always been questionable at best for straight up comparison between a list of specs but when the data is right they can give some indication.
Strength of sims is stuff like comparing pre and post patch with good profiles for both, gear A vs B, talent A vs B etc. The information like DPET is a nice bonus.

Yeah, still an important metric though. All content has periods of ST output and you can mix ST in with other data for a more general comparison.
We have not even got the final round of PTR balance changes, AFAIK, with more coming after a week of nighthold as well.
Those sim comparisons also do not use legendaries for complexity reasons - at this point everybody who is playing a decent amount will have 2 legendaries with most having 3-5

Start a group on my PvE realm, invite one player from a PvP realm, get my corpse camped at the summoning stone. Thanks a lot Blizzard.

The realm that you all get phased to seems almost random, doesn't ask for permission (or have a toggle/control) and disregards your choices for PVE / PVP, server location and language. Needs work, IMO.

I don't mind getting into world PvP after joining someone else's party, but if I start the group on a PvE realm I expect to stay there. I will probably reject everyone from PvP realms from now on, but that's also silly since there are only so many players applying to a group.

It's a bit strange that you get put from PvE to a PvP realm, but I can't say it's strange if you're playing on a very high pop server that you get transferred out when you party up.

Server pops maybe, this just causes inconvenience occasionally if there is no player control and you're warping off to other servers during gameplay.
Transferring across that PVE to PVP barrier (and thus forcing pvp on without warning as you get phased into the middle of 15 enemy faction guys) is just weird, as is getting phased from a server with 30 ping to one with 100 ping or getting phased onto a realm where the official language is Russian, Spanish or German when you speak only English and made your character on an English server.
I don't think that these things have to happen to have the phasing tech work and help out a lot, but they do; it turns a great and almost universally beneficial technology into quite an annoyance with a lot of downsides in practicality. I have to ask the question: "Who thought this was a good idea?"

A t3 raid geared char doing 15x more damage than a fresh 100 seems inevitable.
I think it's over the top, if they did 3x damage then it would be a very nice reward already.
We have this idea about doubling damage again and again and again and again for it to feel rewarding but the cumulative effect is strongly negative for the game IMO. Don't wanna rant about it too much, just finally got an idea of the damage i'l be capable of in NH and found it interesting~
