I personally hope he keeps pushing and Patriot fans can get a taste of what it's really like when "The Man" is out to get you.

There is no proof that the balls were underinflated or that cheating took place in any way other than a text message from a guy who referred to himself as the dorito dink.

You just don't get it do you? It doesn't matter that "there is no proof", it's pointless to keep asserting it. Take the damn wrist slap and move on. Otherwise Goody and Co will find something much worse (maybe not on Tom) and the penalty will be even more harsh.

I do like all the support for unions and collective bargaining that is a byproduct of the defenders of the Patriots though.

I get what you are saying, but I don't believe that someone who is innocent should sit back and take a punishment... It's also not a wrist slap, it's the harshest penalty the league has enforced on a team (even beyond the open and shut case of spygate), which we have to sit back and take regardless because in reality there is no appeal process, PLUS a 4 game suspension on that teams star quarterback and future HOF'er. All based off of, essentially, 1 text message with no context.

You want to give him a 1 game ban for not complying, okay... Maybe I can understand that if you are trying to set a precedent for future investigations. 4? If you agree with that, all I can say is I hope your team is next on his list.

I think it's stupid, I'm just saying asserting your rights against someone more powerful than you usually ends up bad for you. I've been hearing it my whole life, that's why it's so amusing to see people who are generally silent when it happens in far more important aspects of life in a tizzy over this. Not that I'm referring to you specifically. But this is like the most pathetic case to make the

"I don't believe that someone who is innocent should sit back and take a punishment"

case for.

I've read some people saying that this is an excellent case for the NFLPA to use to take a stand against the NFL's "judicial system" and authority over the players. It's not so much about Brady and his suspension and how significant any alleged air pressure cheating is. It's about this case possibly being a good opportunity for the NFLPA to challenge the NFL's way of doing things. At the very least I think the NFL should have to use independent investigators and arbitrators for cases involving discipline this severe. And maybe think about having a different standard of evidence than "more likely than not."

Right now there are so many gray areas in the NFL. There's so much rule breaking that doesn't get enforced. The NFL can investigate and enforce things however they want. I don't think they do it unfairly, like playing favorites, although that could be happening. What I think is definitely happening is that when the media is running a particular story (blowing inflategate out of proportion) then the NFL decides to take action for PR reasons. The media (and the fans, and the fucking non-fans who stick their noses in) should not be influencing the NFL's disciplinary behavior. The NFLPA wants the NFL to stand WITH players who are under the scrutiny of the media and to tell them to stfu when they're being idiots. The NFL shouldn't be caving to pressure put on by the masses and the media. There should be some independent organization that can prevent the NFL from using discipline on players and teams as a method for improving their public image.

Anyway, the only real way changes like that are gonna come about is from law suits in real courts. Those suits will come about from any random case like this, but their real purpose (for most people) would be to permanently change the authority of the NFL over its players.
"Fucking up is part of it. If you can't fail, you have to always win. And I don't think you can always win." Elliott Smith ---------- Yet no sudden rage darkened his face, and his eyes were calm as they studied her. Then he smiled. 'Witness.'

Ahahahahahahaha it just came out that a nfl vp was the one who leaked the bullshit about 11 balls underinflated by 2 pounds or more. This just gets better and better,

Kraft has been one of Goodell's biggest cocksuckers during his term as commissioner. Would be interesting what happens if they have a falling out after this.

I think Goodell has absolutely burned that bridge. Kraft pretty clearly was pulling a "wink wink nudge nudge" by swallowing his medicine with the fine and picks docked as long as Brady had his suspension reduced. Goodell didn't budge and Kraft basically said in one of his pressers this week that he lost faith in the league, hinting that such a deal was in place.

Losing the draft picks will hurt more than losing Brady. They started 2-2 last year because the OL sucked and still won the Superbowl. They could start 2-2 this year without Brady as long as the rest of the team performs.

Absolutely, but it seems that the deal was accepting the greater punishment and having the lesser one dropped. The NFL went back on their word, it would appear.

I agree 100%. As much as I hate Brady and the Pats and hope that he remains suspended for his "who me?" attitude after being accused when it is pretty clear SOMEONE did something and knew about it, there's a couple of really nasty precedents that will be set that go far beyond the pressure of footballs:

1. The NFL can suspend a player for not cooperating with an investigation, even though the investigation is not a legal one.
2. The NFL is permitted to hire an "impartial investigator" who appears anything but impartial and permit that party to conduct the investigation.
3. The NFL is permitted to suspend a player for a perceived offense when the alleged documentation methods include Walt Anderson not actually recording the pressure or doing so on a piece of tape. Despite all the reports that Walt Anderson meticulously measures the balls personally, we don't have any documentation of the pressures before the game. Basically, the NFL can suspend a guy because they think he did something, despite little to no evidence.

Number 3 is the really dangerous one. While it appears to any reasonable observer that the Pats clearly did SOMETHING (phone destruction, firing/suspension of the two stooges from the Pats, general past shadiness looking to get an edge), that probably shouldn't be worth suspending anyone over. They didn't interfere with a legal investigation, they cooperated within their limit of privacy, and there is no evidence they did do anything. The NFLPA seems to have a really good claim here, but then again, I'm no lawyer.

In other news, has anyone seen this Sheldon Richardson stuff? Popped for 4 games for violating the substance abuse policy a few weeks ago, he was pulled over/arrested for the following:

1. Driving 143 mph after being involved in a street race and being tagged by 3 different cops going from 120 to 143 mph.
2. Having a loaded semiautomatic in the car.
3. Running from the police.
4. Violating various traffic laws.
5. Having his car strongly smell of weed.
6. Doing all this with a 12 year old in the vehicle.

He won't be in the league for long.
Who's the bigger scrub, the scrub, or the scrub who loses to him?

Yeah Richardson is a fucking piece of shit. If anything deserves a massive suspension, it's doing that shit with a kid in the car.

I also agree with you about Brady (minus that he should be suspended) part. Even though I am pretty damn sure he knows.

You do or don't think he should be suspended? I'm still up in the air.

As for JPP, I'm taking the stance that I normally take when someone takes a picture of a guy in training camp looking 60 pounds overweight (Eddy Lacy, anyone?): it's a picture. Let's see the thing removed and in motion before we start jumping to conclusions.

Same. It's something about a mistake. And I'm sure it's just his right index finger since we saw his actual medical chart.

Dez Bryant punches Tyler Patmon at training camp.
Sheldon Richardson resisting arrest, possessing an automatic weapon, driving under the influence.

What did Brady do again?
Please help me get in contact with the Pats organization because I'd love to personally deflate Tom's balls.

Guess h'es not messing around and either are the seahawks. It will be interesting to see what kind of team they can keep together now when that hits the books. The other interesting factor is it 4 years where most of the recent deals are 6. It's either the seahawks protecting them selves of RW betting on himself.

Well we've locked up several key players for the next couple years already:
Earl Thomas
Kam Chancellor
Richard Sherman
Michael Bennett
Cliff Avril
KJ Wright
Bobby Wagner
Marshawn Lynch
Jimmy Graham
Doug Baldwin
Russell Wilson

We're gonna lose some people of course but we have a lot of our core guys set (minus holdouts, but theyre still have to play for us regardless).

They can be mad all they want. They're locked up on reasonable deals for 3 more years each and therefore have zero leverage.
