I still think the punishment is bullshit and I'm still not convinced that anything actually happened. Kraft was ready to bite the bullet for the league once already. So it doesn't surprise me that with pressure from other owners to just get it over with, and no real legal route seemingly available because of the NFL owners agreement, he'll do it again. I'd be very surprised if this wasn't because RG agreed to let Brady play and RG apologized for the many fuckups along the way. Everyone close to the situation said the necessary issue for moving on was that RG admitted to Kraft that he fucked up the handling of the whole thing.

Yes, and I can't see Brady backing down because if RG doesn't recuse himself he is almost guaranteed a court case.
The team had a few more days (I believe) to appeal, but team appeals are pretty much unheard of in the current era of "for the betterment of the league"

Yes. ESPN made it seem a little ambiguous at first because they listed the Brady suspension with everything saying all punishments accepted but Brady is still appealing his suspension. Draft picks lost and fine accepted

Ehhh the nflpa is going to tear Rog a new one, but there no way for the pats to appeal, only sue, and in court you have to not only prove that the punishment was wrong, but that it was so pants on head stupid that there was no way any semi reasonable person would hand it down. Brady always had a much much stronger case than the Pats as a organization. Brady always had a much much stronger chance in court than the Pats did. v0v the burden of not only proof, but also massive bias, would have been on the pats in any law suit, and there isn't really a way to appeal short of that.

This is the real loss here. No QB for 4 games is worth the pick for the term of his extremely cost controlled contract.

I'm not hip to the details but since the pats are being fined $1m and Brady is not getting paid ~$2m for missing the games, doesn't this work out to a net +$1m to the pats?

Hey look the titans were giving tickes to scalpers and writing them off as donations to the millitary but I bet its safe to assume given how the titans suck, they wont be punished at all, or maybe lose a 7th round draft pick. I can just imagine the shitstorm if the patriots had done it though.

lol. Sucks, doesn't it? To be fair if it was that instead of this they probably wouldn't be catching any static either since the blackout rules are suspended this year.

In reality they kind of hosed themselves/are helping the NFL make it's blackout case to the FCC since the NFL is going to use last years attendance compared to this year (while the rule is suspended) to see how it impacts attendance.

That being the case, if you live near a shitty team (or one with bad attendance) you can probably find a scalper selling cheap tickets down by the stadium. Might be harder to find them for the Titans though now lol.

I wish the PAT change would be to just change the ball spot to (or past) the hashes. Make the angle harder to kick (it's essentially making the posts skinnier). This would also make fakes interesting cause you'd have a wider side of the field to work with. Anything that adds to the possibility of a kick being a fake is awesome in my book :D

e: actually it would have to be way past the hashes - forgot how much skinnier they are in the NFL! That's something else they could look at reverting imo.

I think they should keep pushing it back. Make the PAT a 40y FG versus a 4 and 2 for the two point conversion. I'd love to see more teams go for it. I don't think spotting the ball on the 15 is going to do much for changing PATs. The ability for the defense to block the kick and run it back for two is interesting though.

Blackout rules are fucked up, so franchises that have poor following (because they put out a shitty product, like say, the Titans!) do all kinds of shit to get a "sellout." A bad team not even appearing on local TV would just push locals further away from the shitpile, err, team.

I recall the Red Sox consecutive sellout streak a few years back was pretty much a farce as well. Probably because everyone withing a 100 mile radius of J-worthy (you) is an asshat.
