So are there any differences between ranked mm and simple mm in the quality of the games?
How close to ixdl is the quality in high ranked games?
If you abandon in draft is it counted as lose in calibration games?

Please keep the QQ to a minimum if you do not like this update. We are happy to hear your reasoning for not liking a ranked system, but no "OMG VOLVO WHY" posts.

For last 20 games in dotabuff, I manage to win only 5 of them. I envy guys having fun games...

Pretty much the same for me. I keep queueing thinking "it cant just keep happening"... but then it does.

MMR works fine. I'm not fucking expecting to be matched against Puppey or something. I feel very confident that match-making is putting me where I need to be. You guys need to understand that any change in skill probably happens gradually. With the amount of variance in between the quality of matches due to the natural limitations of an automated matchmaking system in a game like dota, any improvement in MMR will probably take quite a bit of time to occur. Just focus on how you can better your own game in the long run, and shit will get better. Trust that the fucking wizards at Valve know what they're doing when it comes to designing an MMR system. Unless you think you can code and design the crazy algorithms to deal with the complexities of the problem in this type of system, don't trust your tiny-ass sample size to draw conclusions about how "Volvo doesn't know what they're doing" when it comes to MMR. Trust me, they're paying some smart fucking people to figure that shit out, way smarter than me anyways. Honestly, as long as your teammates aren't trolling you should be able to have fun. Stop playing to "win" and play to improve your own skills, like good warding, ganking, last hitting, map sense, etc. That video posted above is pretty much perfect, and sums up my feelings on match-making systems in general. Edit: also, I find the tag for the poster above me very ironic, in the sentiments it expresses when compared to those expressed in the post.

Which means if valve is enforcing a 50% win ratio across the board, most people will never increase in MMR regardless of their skill increase. They will always face harder opponents until they lose to put them back even. There is no such thing as enforcing a 50% win ratio in this system or any system.

Well they said specifically their system doesn't enforce a 50-50 ratio, but they have recently explained as to why it can do this on it's own.

If you're better than your current mmr, then you'll win more than you lose.

The next 4 games are one sided stomped and lasted only around 30 minutes. I guess that first game dropped my MMR way below my normal score and people counter pick like hell, choose Riki and then instantly Gondar AND Slardar on the other side ... still won though since they have Gondar AND Slardar on their team ... ![]()

Since starting ranked I am 12 -5 and 4 of the losses are the first 4 games of me getting back into it after playing way to much hearthstone + somewhat questionable teammates. Really love ranked it makes me want to play more dota again :3
