When you make a commitment to something, you have to be held responsible, regardless of whether or not you are being paid for it. I manage a clan, I spend hours per week doing stuff for the clan, planning and runnings multiple events, trying to get at least 3-4 clanwars per weekend, handling recruitment, gaming with members, and making sure we do well in WGTCL and BWCL. I've only missed about 3 clanwars in the 9 months I've been with my team, with my other team that I managed, I would wake up at 8 am every sunday to play clanleague for almost a year. I made a commitment, and I honored it, I don't complain, I just do my job. Maybe its just me, but again, this is my attitude towards things, if you commit to something, you should keep your responsibility. I know managing PGT and all that takes time, but the admins and everyone who do it knew this when they signed up. If people can't come through when theyre needed, then why do they commit to something in the first place. It's not me being an asshole and saying "OMG I WANT PGT UP SO I CAN PLAY." Don't try to sound like you are so much of a hero Manifesto. It was a simple question, "when will PGT be back up so I can plan accordingly." It was not a demand for anyone to "get off their ass" I just asked for a timetable. I know it takes time to repair and stuff, so if Pat would say, "hey we got some downtime, be back in 3-4 days while we fix problems" thats cool. Rather than "bnet-x wasnt really affected... we'll be back shortly" and meanwhile the week has passed and no word. This is something WGT staff has done many times, and I know how people are annoyed with that. As I said before, when you commit to something, you have a responsiblity for it. So when PGT goes down, obviously there are thousands of gamers who have come to depend on PGT for their gaming etc, so the admin staff is somewhat responsible for this, since they made the commitment to work with PGT. If I wasn't managing a clan, and if I knew how to program, I'd be on this shit all day until it was fixed, but I dont have the skill or time, so I don't make commitments I can't fulfill. Anyways, thats just my take, and my point of view, if you don't like it, oh well. None of what I said in any way means I don't appreciate PGT or the work they do, because I know I do appreciate PGT, I've come to almost exclusively play on PGT and like the server and the admins a lot, so don't try to assume anything. A simple question should have a simple answer. "When will PGT be back up?" ___________ good day. | ||

I never said "PGT admins are lazy asses and are doing nothing" just want to know how long PGT is expected to be down. When I first saw the site and it said "we'll be back shortly" I thought to myself ... "ok I'll relax today, go game tomorrow" but its been this whole week and no PGT, so I just want to know when it'll be up. That is simply all. | ||

You talk about responsibility, and that is where you are wrong. Pat has ZERO responsibility. Dont you realize someone just hacked a creation he has tried to build? Pat could quite easily say "Sorry folks, PGT was hacked and I am too busy to fix it. PGT is over." Pat doesnt have a responsibility or a commitment. He doesnt get paid for his work and he doesnt have paid emplyoees. He could cut the cord tomorrow, and it would not sully his work whatsoever. Im not trying to sound like a hero. I am just trying to NOT sound like a whiny shit and asking when it will be back. | ||

Well, I'd think you would have to be a total moron to spend such a huge amount of effort to build PGT and then just give it up when some kid hacks it. That would be the most irresponsible thing anybody could ever do. If you don't see this then you have a skewed vision of responsibility. Here is an example. Lets say I promise my neighbor that I will pick up her child from school that day because she can't make it for whatever reason. So, you see here I have made a commitment to do something. Well lets just say that for some reason either a) I don't do it at all or b) I show up like 5 hours late or something. Do you think I can just be like "oh well you didn't pay me so I'm not responsible..." Obviously only an asshole would have this kind of attitude. So, I understand my example and PGT are not the same, but I am just making a point that when you make a commitment to something, no matter the situation, no matter if your getting paid or not, you should honor it. And again, I'm not being a "whiny shit" either. I just asked one question. If you consider that "whiny" then you must have a short temper or something... | ||
