I think Rob's closing words were very important. I'm by no means a card game person. I never got into any games like that and having tried some as a kid, I found myself as detached from the genre as it gets. As a die hard BW and SCII fan I tried Hearthstone, as many of us here at Blizzard have, and it's taken me by surprise. I've been completely amazed by how fun it's been to play and how deeply strategic it is. A lot of people here internally have gotten really into it and most people I've talked to haven't even bought any packs yet.
So I guess my personal message would be: seeing the game first doesn't fully translate into playing and experiencing it first hand. Try it out when you get a chance, cause you might just be as surprised by how fun it is, as I have been since first trying it.
/edit: typo ^^ This is pretty funny, thanks for the laugh Mr blizzard guy Someone has a different opinion of me! better ridicule him. He played it he liked it. Why would that make him a "Blizzard" guy? I'll let you take that back if you want Why would i want to take it back. sure i missed where he said he works there but how does it invalidate his opinion? He says it was much more fun then expected and urges us to try it. Heck its going to be free to play so its not even going to cost you money to try it. I know better throw him under a bus to be sure his hilarious opinion isn't infectious.

This actually looks rather interesting ^_^

If it will be playable on my mobilephone, or i, for whatever reason, will have a tablet/touchscreen laptop until its release, i defenetly will give it a shot. If i have to play on my pc... i don't know Rob!

I think i'll kind of enjoy playing this.
I hate myself a little for it, but I guess I'm getting old & casual :/

This looks really fun. I'd like to see how this turns out, I've recently started getting into computer based card games. I don't know why everyone has so much hate for Blizzard announcing this, it isn't like they just released an expansion that sold over a million copies. It looks like a fun casual game that you don't even have to worry about ruining one of your current favourite franchises, so why hate on it? Besides, they said it was a completely different team of developers so it isn't like they are draining major resources from their main titles.

my card game heart belongs to magic the gathering. sorry blizzard

I think this looks good. Signed up for beta.

I'm excited for Hearthstone.
I really liked the WoW TCG and have been wanting to play an online version of it. I've tried MTG:O and generally enjoyed it, but got frustrated with the clunky interface and certain MTG mechanics. So long as the Hearthstone mechanics play well and aren't overly simplified, I expect to play this quite a bit.
So it's confirmed? Blizzard is selling two different TCG games? Cryptozoic operates and sells the WoW TCG game. Blizzard just licenses the Warcraft universe to them.

meh whatever. not that excited but oh well. blizzard doesnt owe me anything and they are making it f2p so they aren't even asking for much either, ha. I guess a good amount of people will have fun with it
|
I'm actually excited for this.
It's something fun and casual I can play in between ladder sessions or raids. It's a Blizzard title that doesn't require I devote hours and hours of my time to play it and that I can take with me when I leave my house.
Works for me.

Hearthstone is awesome! Only recently (last year or so) I delved into Magic: The Gathering, and since then I adore any other similar games too. In the past I thought this was a really silly and pointless collector-oriented game for people with no math skills. Boy, was I wrong! And the genre is definitely still growing. Blizzard is right on top of the curve by taking this project. The way they talked about going back to the roots, from small to big - that was incredibly inspiring to hear. They haven't lost their "Blizzard" core integrity yet. I sincerely hope this game goes enormously popular, by the sheer simplicity of playing it on any device and with short amounts of free time. It should be wildly accessible, now remains the marketing team to spread it.

He has a conflict of interests being a blizzard employee, his opinions about a game his studio worked on should be taken within a grain of salt. Also the game may be free to play but it has pay to win mechanics.

Again do you know the game is bad and no fun? have you played it? Do you know there is no way to gain cards without spending money?
He is saying we should give it a chance. A chance that doesn't cost money. The amount of "the sky is falling" "blizzard has sold us out" "omg another shit game" in this thread is beyond silly for a game that isn't even in beta yet. You don't like it fine, people have different opinions but that doesn't mean anyone who says otherwise needs to be crucified.

I don't think pay to win is a term you should apply to a trading card game...

The fact that a "good" magic deck can easily cost you 100-200 bucks stops me from playing it and if Heartstone has no way to get cards without paying im unlikely to play it myself.

Well I'm looking forward to it. Never played a TCG, I hope I can get into it.

Whoever gets into the beta, please tell them to drop those atrocious animations in the game...
